STEP TWO:
GET READY
BEFORE YOU REGISTER you will need to do a number of things to prepare. Start with these NOW:
READ through all of the steps and instructions described on this site so you know what to expect.
KNOW your NetID and log-in password.
You will need these to access MySlice for course registration.
If you have not used MySlice before, not yet activated your account, or have forgotten your password, you can set up a new account or reset your password at the IT Services website.
You’ll need your SUID number to activate your NetID.
Visiting Students: You can find your SUID number in OrangeAbroad.
If you have activated your account but forgotten your Net ID, consult the NetID self-service site.
VERIFY your contact information in MySlice
Log into MySlice. Periodically the system will require you to verify your contact information. Once you select any of the links in Student Services you will automatically be forwarded to any items that must be reviewed.
This is also your chance to update any contact information that may have changed.
You may also have to acknowledge that you have read a summary of SU’s Academic Integrity expectations and/or complete Community Wellness Requirements.
CHECK for holds that would prevent you from registering
Log into MySlice using your NetID and password.
Go to "Student Home" > Enrollment > Holds to see if any holds are on your account.
CONFIRM your intended schedule using the following materials:
Copy of the Course Preference Form (CPF) that you was emailed to you after submission
Updated Schedule of Classes and Course Timetable
CHECK RESTRICTIONS/PREREQUISITES/NOTES in course descriptions and on the Schedule (see information in last column).
Some courses are restricted to students who have had prior experience in that subject. Be sure you have met any prerequisites for a course you plan to take.
If you do not meet a prerequisite, you should not register for the course during online registration (enrollment priority goes to students who meet the prerequisite). Syracuse Abroad reserves the right to drop a student from any course for which you are deemed ineligible based on the transcript information available to us.
If the system blocks you from a course during online registration and you believe you have the necessary background, email the Florence Academic Team with supporting information and documentation demonstrating how you are eligible for this course.
Once you arrive in Florence and if there are open seats in the course, students without the prerequisite may be allowed to enroll with permission from the instructor or the Academic Office.
RECORD THE 5-DIGIT COURSE NUMBERS
They are highlighted in the first column of the Schedule of Classes. You will enter these numbers when you register to select your classes.
DO NOT SELECT COURSES MEETING AT THE SAME TIME.
MySlice will not allow you to register for two courses that meet at the same time. You will receive an error message. Use the Course Timetable to help you avoid this.
VERIFY your level for your Italian course.
If you have not yet determined your level of Italian, or if you need help or more information, VISIT THIS PAGE now.
FIND your individual Registration Appointment
Go to OrangeAbroad and look under Registration Appointment & Instructions to find your registration start date and time.
Or go to MySlice > Enrollment tile. Under Enrollment Dates, see appointments for Flex Long Class:
June dates are for the initial registration period
August dates reflect the schedule adjustment period
All initial registration appointments expire at 3:00 PM Eastern time on Tuesday, June 11. You must be fully registered for a minimum of 12 credits by June 11.
ADD your course selections to your Shopping Cart in MySlice
The Shopping Cart saves your class selections until your appointment allows you to register.
Put all of your first-choice courses and some alternative selections in your Shopping Cart prior to registration. You will only register for 12 to 17 credits but, if some classes are closed, you will have alternative options ready to select.
At your Registration Appointment, log back into MySlice, click the boxes next to your first-choice courses and ‘ENROLL’ to register for classes (alternative classes remain in your cart for selection, if needed).
