STEP THREE:
REGISTER!
MySlice is Syracuse University's online portal for academic, financial and other resources. You will access it to register for classes. Even if you are already familiar with MySlice, some things are different for abroad registration so BE SURE to review the following!
MySlice registration for Florence classes does not operate the same as it does for main campus classes. Here are the key differences:
You cannot use Class Search, My Planner or Schedule Builder for Florence classes since they do not appear in the MySlice searchable database. In order to register, be sure you are on the Enroll tab and enter the 5-digit class numbers highlighted on the Schedule of Classes.
DO NOT use the online Help during registration (some of these directions do not apply to Florence class registration). Instead, refer to the below instructions on how to add, drop, and swap classes, the Enrollment Guide, and Common Enrollment Error Messages video.
You cannot register for more than 17 semester credits during the online registration period (MySlice will prevent you from doing so). If you would like to take more than 17 credits during your abroad semester, email the Florence Academic Team.
In some cases, the system may not prevent you from registering for classes for which you are not eligible. Be sure to note any prerequisites indicated in the Schedule of Classes, and select only classes for which you are eligible. Please note that you may be dropped from any class for which you are deemed ineligible based on the transcript information available to us.
ON YOUR REGISTRATION DAY...
If you filled your SHOPPING CART in advance as advised in STEP TWO, your registration process will go more quickly.
Simply login in to MySlice and click the "Enrollment" tile like the one you see to the upper right, then "Enroll/Drop/Adjust Classes". Register for your preferred schedule by selecting your first-choice classes (check the box to the left of each class) and then the FINISH ENROLLING button. It's that simple!
If you have a time conflict or if the class is full, you will get an error message. Try again by selecting one or more alternative courses from your shopping cart.
If you did NOT fill your SHOPPING CART in advance, you will register for each class by
logging into MySlice
click the "Enrollment" tile, then "Enroll/Drop/Adjust Classes"
be sure you are on the Enroll tab, then enter the 5-digit class numbers highlighted on the Schedule of Classes (you cannot register by searching for Florence classes!)
For a step-by-step tutorial on the Enrollment Process, review this ENROLLMENT GUIDE
As you register note...
All Florence classes have enrollment limits based on classroom size. Some courses are popular and fill very quickly (see Courses in High Demand in STEP ONE). You will not be able to register for a class (or section) once the enrollment limit is reached, so be sure to have alternative course selections ready and waiting in your Shopping Cart before you register.
If you are closed out of a course that is fulfilling a specific academic requirement which cannot be met by another course AND which you must take this semester in order to graduate on time, you should document this need by having your home college submit the Academic Need Verification Form. We will make every effort to meet your confirmed academic need.
Courses Meeting Together Share One Class Number
A number of courses have cross-listings or meet together (they can be registered under more than one course prefix, such as HST/SOC 418, or number, such as ARI 361/400.1). To prevent you from getting closed out of such a course under one prefix/number while seats under the other listings are still open, we have provided only a single class number.
This means that you may want to take The Italian Mafia for history (HST) credits, but you will see it on your schedule in MySlice listed as SOC 418. Don’t worry! Once you get to Florence, you will have an opportunity to correct your registration so that it reflects the course prefix or number you need.
Ensure the Accuracy of Your Schedule
Make sure all the sections start with “Z9 ” (this identifies them as Florence classes).
If you’re an undergrad, make sure your Term Credits Total is at least 12 credits to confirm your status as a full-time student and meet Italian immigration requirements.
Be sure to verify the section number of any course that has more than one section to ensure that you’ve registered for the correct section.
DROP, SWAP or ADD a course while your registration appointment is active.
NOTE: ALL appointments expire at 3pm Eastern time on Tuesday, June 11.
Even after you click "FINISH ENROLLING" you can go back and make changes. All registration actions start in MySlice on the Enrollment tile > Enroll/Drop/Adjust classes.
To ADD a course:
Ensure you are on the Enroll and Add tabs
Enter the 5-digit course number of the class (found on the Schedule of Classes; DO NOT SEARCH!)
Confirm Your Selection
Click "FINISH ENROLLING"
To DROP a Course:

If you encounter problems as you attempt to register for classes, please refer to the Troubleshooting page.
If you still have questions or problems, email the Florence Academic Team.
The normal registration period closes on Tuesday, June 11 at 3pm Eastern time.
Be sure you have completed your registration (for a minimum of 12 credits) before your appointment expires!
If you wish to ADD, DROP, or SWAP after this time, you will have to wait until the Schedule Adjustment Period which starts in late August.
