All the courses expected to be offered this semester are listed on the provisional Schedule of Classes and Timetable.
Syracuse University reserves the right to cancel a course with low enrollment or to change the course format to an independent study.
A final Schedule of Classes will be provided prior to registration. Any changes to the currently provided Schedule of Classes will be well communicated! You will receive an email when this info is available.
Be sure you have met all prerequisites for courses you plan to take. Prerequisites are listed in the Schedule of Classes. They are also indicated in course descriptions with equivalencies described for visiting students. If you do not meet the prerequisite, you should not include the course on your CPF.
CAS 200 - Mapping Spain (1 credit). This one-credit class begins online before your arrival in Madrid and includes in-person and online sessions in Madrid during the semester. Our office will enroll you in this course.
At least one course taught in Spanish (3-4 credits). Spanish study is a requirement of the program without exception — regardless of your Spanish proficiency. For help in pre-selecting your Spanish course(s), please carefully review the Spanish Language Requirement section.
If you're accepted to a Madrid special program, your program will have additional requirements.
Only Art History majors may register online for two HOA courses; all other students are limited to one HOA course.
Only Economics majors may register online for two ECN courses; all other students are limited to one ECN course.
Only Political Science/Public Policy/Government majors may register online for two PSC courses; all other students are limited to one PSC course.
Only Psychology majors may register online for two PSY courses; all other students are limited to one PSY course.
Additional seats in enrollment-restricted courses above may be available during online Schedule Adjustment, if space remains after majors have been seated.
Newhouse and public communications majors have priority enrollment in COM 350 and COM 400.
Some courses are open only to students admitted to Madrid Special Programs (Madrid Health and Science, Madrid Center & Liberal Arts in Spanish at UAM) as noted on the Schedule of Classes.
The following courses are new this academic year:
ECN301 Intermediate Microeconomics (3 credits)
HOA300.1 Walking Madrid: A Historical and Artistic Journey (3 credits)
HST/IRP 300.1 Spain on the Global Stage: Historical Context and Modern Implications (3 credits)
PSY252 Statistical Methods II (3 credits)
PSY335 Psychology of Childhood (3 credits)
PSY382 Health Psychology (3 credits)
Internships are now offered as a course:
BPS400 The Global Workplace: Intercultural Communication and Change (1-3 credits)
Some courses carry fees to cover the costs of materials, site visits, and/or study trips that are an integral part of the course. A fee is noted on the Schedule of Classes for any course requiring one.
Please carefully review the list of Fall 2025 Course-Related Fees, which explains briefly what these fees cover. Share it with your parents or guardians and/or anyone financially responsible for your fees. These fees are charged automatically to your Bursar account after the Add deadline.
Course-related field trips are mandatory to attend. If you register for any course with a mandatory field trip on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, you are expected to attend as the trips provide an important experiential learning component. Do not plan personal travel before the final field study schedule is issued to you in Madrid (after the Add deadline) and you know when you may be required to take part in any class-related study tours, all-program trips, make-up classes, exam periods, and other academic commitments.
Because course-related field trips take precedence, note that you make any personal travel plans at your own risk and may need to rearrange them at your own expense.
