MySlice is Syracuse University's online portal for academic, financial, and other resources. You will use it to register for classes.
Even if you are already a regular MySlice user, some things are different for abroad registration... so be sure to review the following!
You cannot use Class Search, My Planner, or Schedule Builder for Madrid classes since they do not appear in the MySlice searchable database. In order to register, be sure you are on the Enroll tab and enter the 5-digit class numbers highlighted on the Schedule of Classes.
DO NOT use the online Help during registration. Some of these directions do not apply to abroad class registration. Instead, refer to the Enrollment Guide, and "Making changes to your schedule" below.
MySlice will prevent you from enrolling in more than 17 semester credits during the online registration period. If you would like to take more than 17 credits during your abroad semester, email the Academic Team before online registration starts.
Our office may administratively drop you from any class for which you are deemed ineligible based on the transcript information available to us or based on published restrictions (e.g., non-Psych majors/minors are limited to one PSY class). Be sure to note any prerequisites indicated in the Schedule of Classes, and select only classes for which you are eligible.
You must email the Madrid Academic Team to request permission to take any course that is not taught in Madrid.
Make sure all the sections start with “Z6.” This identifies them as Madrid classes.
If you’re an undergrad, make sure your Term Credits Total is at least 12 credits to confirm your status as a full-time student and meet Spanish immigration requirements.
Be sure to verify the section number of any course that has more than one section to ensure that you’ve registered for the correct section.
MySlice's "Enrollment" tile
If you filled your SHOPPING CART in advance as advised in STEP TWO: Get Ready, your registration process will go more quickly.
Simply log into MySlice > "Enrollment" tile > Enroll/Drop/Adjust Classes
Register for your preferred schedule by selecting your first-choice classes (check the box to the left of each class).
Click the FINISH ENROLLING button. It's that simple!
If you have a time conflict or if a class is full, you will get an error message. Try again by selecting one or more alternative courses from your Shopping Cart.
You may continue to make schedule adjustments until the end of the registration appointment. If a course you'd really like to take is full at first, continue your attempts to enroll in it as another student may drop their initial enrollment in order to take a different class!
If you did NOT fill your SHOPPING CART in advance, you will register for each class by
Logging into MySlice
Clicking the "Enrollment" tile, then "Enroll/Drop/Adjust Classes."
Confirming you are on the Enroll tab, then entering the 5-digit class numbers highlighted on the Schedule of Classes. (Remember, you cannot register for Madrid classes by searching.)
Click "FINISH ENROLLING."
As you register, please take note:
As on Main Campus, some Madrid courses are popular and fill quickly. All classes have enrollment limits based on classroom size and other factors. You will not be able to register for a class (or section) once the enrollment limit is reached, so be sure to have alternative course selections ready and waiting in your Shopping Cart before you register.
If you are closed out of a course, continue trying to enroll in the course through the end of the registration appointment.
You may DROP, SWAP, or ADD a course anytime while your registration appointment is active.
ALL Madrid registration appointments expire at 3 p.m. Eastern US time on Tuesday, June 10.
Even after you click "FINISH ENROLLING," you can go back and make changes before your appointment expires. All registration actions start in MySlice > "Enrollment" tile > Enroll/Drop/Adjust Classes
To ADD a course:
Ensure you are on the Enroll and Add tabs.
Enter the 5-digit course number of the class (found on the Schedule of Classes; DO NOT SEARCH!).
Confirm your selection.
Click "FINISH ENROLLING."
To DROP a Course:
Ensure you are on the Enroll and Drop tabs.
Select the course you wish to drop by clicking the box to the left of the class.
Confirm your selection.
Click "FINISH ENROLLING."
To SWAP a Course:
Ensure you are on the Enroll and Swap tabs.
Use the dropdown menu to select the class to swap out.
Select the class you want to add from your Shopping Cart OR by entering the five-digit Class Number (found on the Schedule of Classes; DO NOT SEARCH!).
Confirm your selection.
Click "FINISH ENROLLING."
Be sure you have completed your registration (for a minimum of 12 credits, not counting your Signature Seminar) before your appointment expires!
If you wish to ADD, DROP, or SWAP after this time, you must wait until the Schedule Adjustment Period in August.
If you still have questions or problems, email the Madrid Academic Team. Include a screenshot of the error message.
¡Todo hecho!
You're all ready to register.
