Summary of Study
The method of this study is a content analysis that uses a series of portraits from the National Portrait Gallery to determine how female leaders use power symbols in their dress to communicate meaning. The seven portraits range from the years 1575-1947 and consist of the subjects: Queen Elizabeth I, Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth II. These three leaders were selected due to the unique states of sociopolitical culture during the times in which they reigned.
