"I don’t think I would have had the same experience if I didn’t have Brian as my teacher!"
Math autobiography
Each student submits his or her own story describing their history as a learner of mathematics. This sets the stage for me to get to know my students and learn about how they think. It is often depressing to read experiences resulting in math anxiety and math hate, but I need these in order to be compassionate for my students’ dispositions.
MAT 122 Section 206, Spring 2021
"This instructor really cared about his students and went out of his way to make sure we all understood the material. This instructor was so passionate about the material covered and the course, which made the class very enjoyable."
"Brian was an excellent TA. I appreciated that he took some time each class to ask each student how they were doing in the course, as well as in their personal life. This past year has been extremely difficult for everyone, and having a TA seem to genuinely care for the well-being of his students was really comforting. Brian would take his time during recitation and complete a problem or two very thoroughly to enhance my understanding. I sincerely felt like he wanted all of us to succeed."
"Brian was a great TA. He was very engaging and you he didnt make you feel awkward when asking for help. Some TA's act like any additional help is a burden, Brian didn't act this way. He was also incredibly jovial both in person and through zoom, always asking how we were and being personable. It helped a lot, especially when online classes have been so monotonous. I really appreciated his effort."
"Math is something that I've never been too engaged in, but your passion for teaching made it bearable. I wish you the best in the coming years (and love your fashion sense)"
Evaluation from MAT 122 M110, Spring 2021
"Made the best out of a covid semester. I appreciate the work he put in"
"Very helpful TA and always met outside of class time and office hours..."
From the feedback, I was able to realize how at times my recitation lessons did not match the content covered by the professor and how this affected my students. I also believe this has issues related to course scheduling. I used to meet some of my students before they attended lectures in which the content we are reviewing is covered.
MAT 122 Section 112, Spring 2021
"One of the best TA's I have ever had!!!! Low pressure! Always answers, always willing to help. Awesome job! 10/10 THANK YOU!"
MAT 122 Section 205, Spring 2021
"I really enjoyed my time in Brian's recitation. While there were not many students besides myself who came in person, I always found Brian very enthusiastic about the class and constantly checking in with all the students. It was easy to see that Brian genuinely cared about his students even if they were online. Brian was very helpful within the class but then was also very communicative outside of the class during office hours and through email. I found this class challenging and I was confident that any questions I had, Brian would be willing to help."
"Kind and knowledgeable teacher that gives individual help to his students to keep them on track. It was a pleasure to have him"
MAT 121 Section 201
• Everything is working well in this course.
• I enjoy coming to the recitation on Tuesday's. I feel like I can ask questions when I need help. It's also nice that we have a smaller group of people we get to know. I like doing the Lab HW's in class because I can ask my classmates for help, and the TA as well.
