Crystallization and Bioprocess Research Group ➡️ Wantha Lab.
Our current research interests cover: (1) Crystallization from solution. We will pay special attentions in the crystallization of biomolecules (e.g., sugar, amino acid, and protein), active pharmaceutical ingredients, polymorphic compounds, drug coating by crystallization, and encapsulation of bioproducts by crystallization. (2) CFD in Chemical Engineering and Biochemical Engineering equipment. (3) Production of biochemical products from agricultural materials (e.g., amino acids, sugar).

Biofuel Production and Surfactant Technology Research Lab
Welcome to our dynamic research group at the School of Chemical Engineering, Suranaree University of Technology. Our laboratory is dedicated to advancing sustainable technologies and pioneering clean energy solutions. With core expertise spanning biofuels, microemulsions, tribology, and surfactant science, we focus on transforming fundamental engineering principles into innovative, real-world applications. By understanding the intricate behaviors of complex chemical mixtures and interfaces, our group strives to develop cutting-edge solutions that address today’s pressing global energy challenges.
Over the past five years, our primary research trajectory has been intensely focused on the fundamental understanding and practical optimization of next-generation biofuels. A major pillar of our recent work investigates the behavior of mixed nonionic surfactants and their critical effects on microemulsion phase boundaries. By mapping these complex interactions, we have been able to successfully enhance fuel properties and overall engine performance.
Additionally, we have made significant strides in fuel tribology, specifically exploring the tribochemistry of organic friction modifiers and their role in the lubrication of bio-hydrogenated diesel. To further accelerate our innovations, our latest pioneering efforts have integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) into our chemical engineering frameworks. We are currently utilizing AI techniques to predict and investigate the precise impact of varying fatty acid profiles on biodiesel lubricity. By bridging surfactant thermodynamics with machine learning and tribology, our group remains dedicated to engineering highly efficient, cleaner, and more sustainable fuel technologies for the future.
