Riverhead High School has had Maryhaven Center of Hope successfully provide job development services for students with disabilities since 2007.
Job Developer Ashley Lohr works with our students to help them learn how to make a resume, learn pre-vocational skills, soft skills, interviewing skills, find employment, and complete applications. Once a student is hired, Mrs. Treder is able to provide the student with job coaching as needed. Job coaching provides individuals the opportunity to have support and assistance on the job during training and available support while employed. This can be extremely helpful for a student with a disability as job coaching can also assist with problem-solving, breaking down tasks, organization, and more. Keep in mind however that this is not meant to be a one-on-one aide like the school setting, but rather an assistant that fades out quickly. The goal of a job coach is to assist the individual to be independent in their employment.
If you have any questions about job development services, please feel free to contact Ashley Lohr, Maryhaven Job Developer at 631-369-7416 or Ashley.lohr@g.riverhead.net
