An NYS Education Department-certified Driver Education course is being hosted at Riverhead High School. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive an MV-285 (Student Certificate of Completion) which enables the student to schedule a road test with the DMV and obtain a graduated license at 17 years of age.
The course will consist of a 16-week program of mandatory live instruction and driving time.
The Fall 2025 Session will begin the week of September 7, 2025, and end the week of January 11, 2025. We will offer one lecture section, to be held on Monday's
from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. This will be a live, regularly scheduled lecture session. Each student will need to attend driving instruction as well. Students must select a section to enroll in. If a section reaches capacity or does not meet minimum enrollment, it may closed or be modified. We will communicate any changes with you two weeks prior to the start of the Session.
Due to New York State regulations, NO MISSED CLASSES OR ASSIGNMENTS ARE PERMITTED. If the student fails to hand in an assignment by the posted deadline, the student will get a zero for the assignment. If the student drops or fails to pass the course, there is no refund given and the MV-285 Certificate will be forfeited. We will not be sending out reminders each week; it is your responsibility (student AND parent) to make sure that assignments are completed and submitted by the assigned deadlines.
