ABOUT US! SEP, the future of engineering professionals.
Student Engineering Professionals commonly known as SEP, is a student-led mentorship program currently targeting 2nd and 3rd years of the ECET department. The mission of SEP is to provide academic and career resources to the ALANNA community. The program is designed to adapt and cater to each individual’s goals, not every mentorship relationship looks the same.
The second and third year of your career at RIT will be challenging and can also be very stressful. I have experienced and seen firsthand the pressure, the issues, and the lack of motivation or even the rambunctious college life that comes with the second and third year of college.
The SEP will focus on academic success, career preparation and have the student's goals as the main goal of the program.
3 Meetings for academics (beginning of the year academic goals, fall/spring break goals, and finals)
3 Meetings for career preparation (resume building, portfolio building, and soft skills/connections).
SEP TIMELINE
OPPORTUNITIES
The Affinity Reception is a great source open to students of color and different backgrounds at RIT. SEP Students will be given the unique opportunity to not only demonstrate the skills they have learned in the program, but also show the different projects that have worked on. SEP is determined to better equip the mentees and ensure that they stand out!
Materials provided by SEP Lead Mentor.
This is a unique way to get your name out there, noticed, and talked about. Great way to connect with students, engineers, and professionals! You will be highlighted by our planned posts, focusing on your growth as SEP.
All of the mentors of SEP, are in the department of their mentee. Mentors are tasked with providing guidance, advice, and insight into workload, time/assignment management, and extracurriculars. They ARE NOT tasked with doing the work for the mentee but allowing them to be put into a position for academic success. Academic goals are just as important as career goals!
Application Process
There is NO GPA requirement! GPA is a just number that should be used as a tool to success not a barrier from it! Students with GPAs below 3.0 are heavily encouraged to apply!
