Shaikh Akib Shahriyar is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computing and Information Sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), NY under the supervision of Prof. Matthew Wright. He completed his M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from KUET where he was advised by Professor Dr. Aminul Haque Akhand. He also pursued his B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from KUET and completed his undergraduate thesis under the supervision of Professor Dr. Muhammad Sheikh Sadi.
Shaikh Akib Shahriyar is also employed as a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET). Before joining KUET, He was a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at North Western University.
My research expands in multiple branches of Computer Science such as Machine Learning, Computer Security, Cryptography, Computer Vision and Bio-inspired Optimization Algorithms. Currently, I am keenly interested in leveraging Machine Learning concepts to secure today's computer systems. Another research drive is in securing Machine Learning algorithms through an adversarial approach.
I am also looking out for active collaboration to participate in interesting research works. I will be happy to hear about your project or the opportunity you are offering! Just send me an email.
Graduate Research: (July 2018 – May 2019)
Developed a speech enhancement model utilizing Deep Learning which cleans noisy speech signals. Collaborated with Shimamura Laboratory of Saitama University, Japan to improve the robustness of the Speech Enhancement model.
Thesis Title: “Speech Enhancement Using Convolutional Denoising Auto-Encoder”
Research Supervisor: Dr. M. A. H. Akhand
Undergraduate Research: (January 2016 – February 2017)
Developed a novel Successive Parity Generation (SPG) based error correction algorithm to tolerate soft errors. The parity bits are generated through sequential XOR operation.
Thesis Title: “An Efficient Error Correction Approach by using Successive Parity Generation”
Research Supervisor: Dr. Md. Sheikh Sadi
