When is "Senior Skip Day"?
"Senior Skip Day" is NOT an RISD or Lake Highlands High School supported event. This is a false day made up by students that will result in an unexcused absence.
What is "Build-A-Senior-Year"?
This is an optional package for parents that breaks up most events for senior year into smaller installment payments. You build your package by selecting the options your senior will participate in this year, add up the total, then begin making payments. See the online form HERE.
When is the last day to sign up for the "Build-A-Senior-Year" option?
December 2022. Click HERE to build your package if before 12/2022.

How much is prom?
$80. Purchase tickets online HERE.
Will there be different packages for prom tickets?
Yes
Will tickets be discounted for F/R lunch eligible students?
No
Can freshmen and sophomores attend prom?
No they cannot. Juniors will be permitted to attend ONLY IF attending with a senior student.
Can non-LH students come to prom?
Yes, but they must be accompanied by a Lake Highlands senior student. You will need to submit a non-LH guest form waiver. These are available in the senior office. All guests must be approved by LH administration.
What is the maximum age a prom guest can be?
20 years old or younger only. ID's will be checked at the door.
Do LH students have to have their ID's to enter prom?
Yes (school ID)
I attend/graduated from MPA. Can I attend prom?
Yes! Ticket sales are online.

Final exam exemptions.
Seniors can be exempt from their final exam if they meet certain requirements. Teachers will let students know if they are exempt or not. Note, even if a senior is exempt from their exam, they still must show up on exam day to that class. Students that do not show up on exam day will receive an unexcused absence. The final exam exemption policy will be posted here April 2023.
Where can I request my final transcript?
Final transcripts can be requested in May. The district is now using Green Light for transcript requests. GreenLight is a digital service for students to instantly send OFFICIAL transcripts to universities. The link can also be found on student Chromebooks on Classlink.

Will elementary schools be having senior breakfasts for their senior alumni students?
Yes, most will have a breakfast to celebrate their graduating seniors. The breakfasts will be held in May and are usually before school. These are planned by the elementary schools, not LHHS. We will post dates on this website as the elementary schools provide dates to us.

When & where is graduation rehearsal?
Thursday, May 25. Buses will pickup all students from LHHS at 11:30AM and transport all to RHS. Afterwards, all will be taken back to LHHS at 1:30PM. No cap & gown needed. No parents. Students only. REHEARSAL IS MANDATORY AND ALL STUDENT MUST RIDE THE BUS.

What happens if I miss the cap & gown online order cut-off date?
Yes, you can still place an order, however, additional fees will apply
What is the minimum cost for our cap & gown?
Basic package with just the cap, gown, white stole, & tassel is $64.95
I already have a gown from my older sibling/relative that graduated from LH. Can I use it?
Possibly. Cap & gowns from the class of 2022 and later can be used again. Any from the class of 2021 and before canNOT be used because the vendor has since changed.
Where will my cap & gown be delivered?
All orders placed BEFORE THE ONLINE CUT-OFF DATE of Friday, March 10, 2023, will be delivered to LHHS on March 21st, during lunches in the Hub. If the order was placed after the cut-off date it will be delivered to what ever address you input; usually your home address.
What if my student is absent on cap & gown pick-up day?
We will hold the cap and gown package in the senior office for the student to pickup once they return to campus.
Where can I order graduation announcements?
Jostens online at www.jostens.com . You can also order from any other outside vendor of your choice. You do not have to use Jostens.
How do I know if I am an "honor graduate"?
Those students that have maintained an overall 90 average or above (9th-12th grade) will qualify to walk as an honor graduate. We will have a list of all honor grads in late Spring.
Where will I get my honor stole from?
Students will pick up their honor stole in the Hub in the spring semester.
How much does the honor stole cost?
$TBD, cash only
What about other stoles such as NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, etc.?
Students can reach out to the teacher sponsor of each of these organizations for specifics on costs, distribution, etc. of these stoles.
How do I qualify for the Service Medal Award?
Students must earn 60 hours of verified volunteer hours. Hours must be logged into Naviance by the district set deadline (usually mid-Spring semester) to qualify. 30 hours can be accumulated between the 9th-11th grade years, and the remaining 30 hours during 12th grade year.
When will I get my Service Medal if I do qualify?
On the same day honor stoles are given out sometime in the spring semester
Is there a cost for the Service Medal?
No
Do I have to walk at graduation?
No, but why wouldn't you? You've worked so hard for this day!
Will there be wheelchair accessible seating?
Yes. Families can reserve this seating online HERE. It is first come, first served.
How many graduation tickets does each student get?
TBD tickets per eligible graduate AFTER their completed Senior Checklist is turned in
When can I get my graduation tickets?
Eligible seniors will get tickets after their graduation SENIOR CHECKLIST is complete, all fees are clear, and they have their Chromebook & charger to turn in. It will be the last week of school.
When can I get EXTRA tickets?
There will be no extra tickets given out
Do babies and young siblings need a ticket?
Children 5 years and older need a ticket.
What is a "graduation senior check list"?
This is a list of items that will need to be completed by each student. Items include paying any lost calculator fees, book fees, turning in their district issued Chromebook, charger, cover, etc. The checklist will be available in the senior office in May. MPA and graduating juniors do need to complete the checklist.
I have family members out of town that want to see me cross the stage. Will graduation be live streamed?
Yes. The link will be provided on the district website (www.risd.org) a few days before graduation.
I graduated early from MPA, do I have to complete a graduation checklist? Where do I get my tickets?
Students that have graduated from MPA do need to complete the senior checklist and will pickup their tickets on a designated date the last week of school.
How much are graduation tickets?
Free! There is no cost to graduation tickets.
What if I do not get enough tickets for all of my family members?
You can check with other students to see if they do not need their all of their tickets, or you can have your family members watch the live stream on graduation day.
Will the class of 2023 graduation be like last year's?
Yes! The only difference is that it will be held at the football stadium at RHS instead of LHHS.
Is there a clear bag policy?
Yes! RISD clear bag policy will still be in place. Review the guidelines HERE.
Are there prohibited items? Noise makers, etc?
Yes! No noise makers, balloons, large signs, or anything else that may block other's view.
How much is parking?
Free. Please note due to very limited parking at RHS, students are not allowed to park at the graduation site. They are encouraged to either be dropped off at RHS by a parent, Uber/Lift there, or ride the district provided transportation that will depart from LHHS at 6:30AM that morning.
Family members and guests of student graduates are okay to park at and around RHS.
Is there a graduate dress code for graduation?
Nice/comfortable clothing that is not too bulky and sensible shoes that allow for easy walking on turf.
Can I decorate my graduation hat?
No, that is for college graduation. Decorated hats will be taken and held until after graduation.
Can I wear a cord/stole from an outside organization such as Cub Scouts, Eagle Scouts, etc?
No, the district only allows RISD affiliated cords and stoles.
Can I walk across the stage with my country's flag or banner?
No, this is not permitted per district guidelines.
Can I (the graduate) bring a bag or my purse with me to graduation?
No. Graduates should leave all bags, purses, etc. with their families in the audience or their car.
Will there be a celebration for students after graduation?
There will not be a school/RISD sponsored event
