Mrs. Carrie Kimberley

• I teach ESL English 2 and ESL Academic Literacy Lab 2

• I was born in Seoul, S. Korea, and immigrated to Ohio when I was three years old to join my adoptive family.

• I learned English at a very early age by being immersed in it. No one in my little town, including my family, spoke Korean.

• I love teaching English Learners because their stories and incredible resilience never cease to amaze me.

• Knowing more than one language is a superpower!!!

• I teach Mexican American Studies and Ballet Folklorico

• Previously taught ESL World Geography and Personal Financial Literacy

• Originally from Chihuahua, Mexico but living in Texas for 25 years

• Currently in process of earning my PhD in Language, Diversity, and Literacy Studies at Texas Tech University

• I teach ESL U.S. History

• 20 years of experience teaching

• 15 years teaching ESL U.S. History

• I do not speak Spanish, but I do utilize technology that enables the students to learn U.S. History

• Certified Teacher in English, Journalism and ESL

• 7th Year at RHS over 10 years with English Language Learners

• Learned Spanish as an adult which helped deepen my understanding of second language acquisition

• Born and raised in the Chihuahuan Desert

Mr. Julio Vasquez

• I teach ESL World History and ESL World Geography.

• I am from the Hill Country (specifically Johnson City, Texas), but I have lived a lot of my life in Lawrence, Kansas.

• I attended and graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawerence, Kansas. I also taught US History, Borderland History and Modern Latin American History at the University of Kansas.

• I enjoy teaching ESL because it is fun watch the student support each other with the academic material!

• I have taught English for 20+ years.

•  I have taught in TX, GA, and NY.

• This is my 3rd year teaching at RHS, but my first-year teaching ESL.

• I was born in the big state of Texas.
