Why do some of my students' screens show up as not connected in GoGuardian?

The good news is that this is probably not something that your student did to get around GoGuardian. The bad news is that these tips don't always work

• Tell your student to log off and log on again without restarting the computer.
• If you are running a scene in GoGuardian, you may want to go to the Scene button, click None, and then click the scene you were running again. WARNING: this may boot the rest of your students out of what they were doing!! We've found that many times, though, the student can pick up where they left off after you run the scene again, even if they are taking a Google Forms assessment.

Why can't my students type on the assignment I set up for them?

• You may have clicked "Students Can View File" when you assigned it. If you want students to be able to write on the doc, choose "Students Can Edit File" or "Make a Copy for Each Student."
• You may have assigned a Word Document instead of a Google Doc. Students cannot edit a Word File, even if you select "Students Can Edit File." You can convert that Word Doc to Google by going to Drive, right-clicking on it, choosing Open With, and choosing Google Doc. Google will convert it for you. Check the formatting, though!

The extension/app/site I need for my classroom is blocked!!

• FOR EXTENSIONS/APPS: Enter it in to this form. They usually unblock it within two days.
• FOR SITES: Enter it in to this form. They are very quick, too!
• If you test it after two days, and it is still blocked, email me the information, and I'll check up on it for you.

Why can't I see my picture on my own Classroom tile? I can see other teachers' pictures in their Classrooms.

• Classroom is set up so teachers do not see their own picture on their own classes. You only see teacher pictures on classes in which you are student.

Google says I don't have permission to view something, even though I'm logged into my school g.risd.org account.

Google is probably trying to use your personal gmail to access the form/doc/sheet, even though you are logged in with your school email. Here is how to fix it.

• Go to google.com
• Click on your picture on the upper right corner.
• Click Sign Out.
• Next, you'll see a list of users to sign into. Sign into your g.risd.org account.
• Try accessing what you were trying to access again. If that doesn't work, let me know.
