Paper 2 is called "Media Messages". Within this 2 hour exam in the May of your second year, you will explore a range of media industries and products from an analytical and critical perspective, considering why and how messages have been constructed by media producers to reinforce or challenge cultural and societal ideologies.
Section A: UK Newspapers, print and online
You will answer 4 x questions on UK newspapers, focusing on their media language and representations, as well as their industry and audience practices. Our key set texts are Daily Mail and The Guardian, although you will also learn about all major national papers.
Section B: Media Language and representations
You will study 3 topics and two of them will come up in the exam from:
Music Videos - SET TEXTS - David Guetta's Titanium and Lil Nas X's SUN GOES DOWN
Advertisements SET TEXTS - Shelter, River Island and Dove
Magazines SET TEXTS - The Big Issue
