The nature and development of human rights

What do you need to know?

This is mostly background - how historically rights and freedoms developed and were gradually recognised. How, after WW2 international standards of human rights emerged and drawn up for the first time in the UN Declaration on Human Rights (1948).

This was followed by the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) - a European charter of fundamental freedoms - drawn up by the Council of Europe.
