Introduction to German
Whilst studying German at QE you will spend at least one hour per week in practising speaking and conversation in small groups. This is coursework that sets the QE German department apart from other colleges.
30% of your A level grade will be an oral exam. This time in conversation class will prepare you to do your best on this part of your final exam.
Included in your final project is an IRP (Independent Research Project) where you will spend your second year researching a topic of your choice that you will present in your final oral exam.
Past student IRP topics have included the analysis of the fairy tale 'Hansel & Gretel'; Women's rights in the DDR, and Sopie Scholl,a German student and anti-Nazi political activist, active within the White Rose non-violent resistance group in Nazi Germany.
The IRP is introduces you to independent reading, research and oral presentation; all valuable skills for work and university studies.
