One of the advantages of Film is that everything you watch - at home or in cinemas - expands your understanding of the craft of filmmaking. As such, you're encouraged to watch a wide variety of different films in various genres, films that have different agendas, films that take risks, films from different time periods, and even just films that optimise their emotional power through really effective construction. Remember that we watch all of our set texts in class, but you may wish to watch some other films by the filmmakers we study, increasing your overall knowledge of their work.
Much of your wider reading and viewing is likely to be online, but there are good textbooks available too. However, there is no expectation that you buy additional books - we have a well-stocked library and you are provided with a textbook when you start the course.
