Hello, I’m Keenan and I studied English Literature at Queen Elizabeth for two years, I'm now studying Law at Northumbria University.
When QE asked if I would like to do a testimonial for Lit, I didn’t think twice. Every teacher brought their own flair and supported me not only in my studies, but personally.
The content is broad so that we read classic British writings, but exposed us to authors like Maya Angelou, a black female activist who was a pioneer for the Civil Rights Movement during the 60s.
Most importantly, whilst studying English Literature, you will learn how to think for yourself, form and express your opinions effectively, but to always question your perceptions. In the modern day, this is the most powerful tool someone can acquire, and is reflected in the events of recent times.
I am grateful for my time at QE and inspiring teachers who helped me cultivate my voice for real world action.
Lucy Jackson's testimonial. She is studying English Literature at Edinburgh University.
Studying English Literature at QE has given me lots of tools to be able to study English at university. Because of the huge range of texts on offer, I’ve been exposed to all sorts of different genres and time periods. The opportunity to debate and question different texts has allowed me to take a thought-provoking and analytical approach to literature. Most of all, studying English Literature at QE has made me appreciate literature even more, and it has provided me with the desire to keep on exploring the world of books!
