Technology

Technology is an integral part of my classroom! I use it during whole group instruction, small group instruction, for assessment, and for fun of course!

Whole Group Examples

We borrowed National Geographic's Giant map of AL and students worked collaboratively in Google sheets to answer geography questions.

Students were provided with a template for an animal research presentation.

They used the Google search feature to find information about their chosen animal.

They were allowed to be creative and many different elements to their presentations.

We have Book Club time in the mornings when students plug into a Kindle Fire or Ipad to listen to a 4th grade level (or above) novel on Audible. This is really helping my students learn to LOVE reading. They are SILENT, completely engaged, and BEG for more reading time.

Small Group Examples

Students record FlipGrid videos to name the 5 AL state capitals.

FlipGrid is the BEST tool I have found for helping students memorize (and recall) important facts. Recording a video to answer questions gives them ownership of their learning and applies to their passion for online videos.

Students work in Google Slides to divide and make equal groups. This helps them with math skills and technology skills.

Students used Google Sheets to make open area models to multiply 2 digits by 2 digits. This was great practice working within the cells of Google Sheets, and it also made sense to the students because of our on going use of base ten blocks.

This is an example of a student created Digital Portfolio. Students are able to add meaningful elements to their portfolio and keep adding to it throughout their education.

Assessment Examples

[Template] Illustrations Performance Task

I converted pdf/doc performance tasks for reading into a Google Slides format. This saved a TON of paper. It was easier to score and return to the student (digitally through Google Classroom) and the students preferred this method for multiple reasons: they could zoom in and out, highlight text, copy and paste, drag and drop.

Students show Plickers cards to choose an answer to a multiple choice math question.

This is a great formative assessment tool because I can immediately place students in groups based on needs.

Quizlet is place where students LOVE to study vocabulary. I get great data for what words they need more practice with.

Just for Fun
