Article 1 National Taiwan University (NTU or “the University”) Graduate School of Advanced Technology (“the School”) formulates NTU Graduate School of Advanced Technology Degree Requirement Rules ("the Rules") in accordance with the NTU Academic Regulations (“the Regulations”).
Article 2 Admission Eligibility
In accordance with Part 4, Chapter 1 of the Regulations.
Article 3 Maximum Period of Study
The School's maximum period of study for the master program is limited to 1 to 4 years; the maximum period of study for the PhD program is limited to 2 to 7 years.
Article 4 Minimum Graduation Credits
Students enrolled in the master's program shall receive at least 24 credits prior to graduation, of which at least 12 credits are professional electives from the Program and 3 credits are from the internship over 1 semester.
General students enrolled in the PhD program shall receive at least 18 credits prior to graduation; direct-admit to PhD students shall receive at least 30 credits prior to graduation. For both general students and directadmit PhD students, at least 9 credits shall be from professional electives, and 3 credits shall be from the internship over 1 semester.
Graduate students who have at least one year of relevant industry R&D experience may apply for a waiver of the Internship course by submitting supporting documentation (e.g., a certificate of employment or proof of resignation/ termination of employment). Upon review and approval by the degree program, the Internship course may be waived, and the required credits shall be fulfilled through other courses.
Over the study period, the student shall complete and pass a seminar, a special project, an internship and complete a master's thesis/doctoral dissertation. The credits of the seminar and the special project do not count toward the minimum credits for graduation requirements.
Online learning of Academic Ethics is a required course, and does not count toward graduation credits.
A percentage of English-taught courses shall be registered for graduation requirements.

Article 5 Credit Transfer
In accordance with the School's Directives Governing Postgraduate Students' Credit Transfer.
Article 6 Thesis Supervision
Following enrollment, the College's postgraduate students shall confirm and register with a supervisor within the timeframe prescribed by the degree program. The thesis/dissertation supervisor shall in principle be one of the degree program's professors, associate professors or assistant professors, full-time or by joint appointment.
If the postgraduate student wishes to select, in addition, a faculty member from other NTU programs or a faculty member from another institution as a joint advisor, the postgraduate student shall obtain permission from the supervisor as well as the program director.
The degree program director shall assist the postgraduate student in the event that the student cannot find a supervisor or when the supervisor is unable to continue supervising for any reason.
Postgraduate students who wish to change their supervising professor shall complete all handover procedures and submit the application documents signed by the original supervising professor, the new supervising professor and the degree program.
Supervising professors who wish to terminate the supervisory relationship shall notify the degree program in writing. Following the termination of the supervisory relationship, the degree program may assist the postgraduate student in seeking the succeeding supervisor.
Postgraduate students who have changed supervisors shall submit the thesis or dissertation manuscript to the former supervisor. Any dispute shall be appealed to the degree program within five days prior to the date of the oral defense. The oral defense shall be suspended following the appeal. The degree program shall rule on the appeal in a meeting within one month following the the appeal. The grade received for the master’s or doctoral degree examination shall not be recognized if not conducted in accordance with applicable regulations.
Article 7 Doctoral Degree Qualifying Examination
In accordance with the College's Directives for the Implementation of Ph.D. Candidate Qualifying Examination.
Article 8 Doctoral Dissertation Examination Qualification Review
The doctoral postgraduate student shall complete qualification review following the Ph.D. candidate qualifying examination and prior to applying for doctoral dissertation examination.
The student may file an application to the degree program to form a thesis/dissertation defense committee after submitting all relevant forms bearing the supervising professor's signature, confirming compliance with all regulations on credits, qualification, etc. The degree program shall seek approval of the application by the University.
The doctoral dissertation examination may proceed after the doctoral dissertation is reviewed by the Admission and Academic Committee.
Article 9 Thesis/dissertation Defense
In accordance with the University's Rules Governing Thesis/Dissertation Defense.
Article 10 Graduation and Degree Conferral
In accordance with the In accordance with Part 4 Chapter 5 of the University's Academic Regulations.
Article 11 Implementation details of the degree program's compulsory/elective courses, credit transfer, qualifying examination, etc. shall be governed by directives formulated by the Admission and Academic Committee Curriculum Committee, and filed by the School for reference.
Article 12 Matters not addressed herein shall be handled in accordance with applicable NTU regulations
Article 13 The Regulations shall be passed by the Management Committee, submitted to Supervisory Committee for reference and then implemented on the date of promulgation.

Article 1 National Taiwan University (NTU or "the University") Graduate School of Advanced Technology (GSAT or "the School") formulates the NTU Graduate School of Advanced Technology Directives for the Establishment of the Outstanding R Internship Award ("the Directives") in accordance with Article 6 of the GSAT Rules Governing Students Awards and Scholarships, in order to foster closer ties between the University and industry, and to advance academic research in tandem with industrial technological development.
Article 2 Target Recipients
Master's and PhD program students of the School.
Article 3 R&D Internship Course Requirements
The required internship course of the School is titled "R Internship." Master's program students shall complete 1 semester for 3 credits; doctoral program students shall complete 2 semesters for 6 credits (only 3 credits shall be counted towards graduation).
Students who undertake internships during the summer break before enrollment must complete a total internship duration of at least 2 months; for those who undertake internships during the academic term, the total duration shall reach 250 hours.
Students shall submit an internship work plan to the School prior to commencing the internship and have the host company complete a performance evaluation form upon its completion.
The grading criteria for the course "R Internship" shall be based on the company's performance evaluation form, the internship report, and an oral presentation. The final grade shall be determined by the course instructor based on a comprehensive assessment of the aforementioned criteria.
Article 4 Selection Process
The School shall conduct the selection on the day of the oral presentations based on the grading criteria specified in Article 3, Paragraph 4, and subsequently announce the list of award recipients.
Article 5 Award Amount and Quota
The award amount and the number of recipients shall be determined based on the School's budget for the current year and the number of students enrolled in the course.
Article 6 The Directives shall be reviewed and passed by the Admission and Academic Committee of the School and then implemented on the date of promulgation.
Internship Organization Requirements
Internship organizations must be external to the university. Domestic universities and their affiliated units (e.g., campus research centers, institutes, and affiliated hospitals) are NOT eligible.
Both companies and research institutions are acceptable internship organizations. There is no minimum size requirement for the organization. (e.g., Academia Sinica, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), National Applied Research Laboratories (NARLabs), National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), etc.
Internship Hour Requirements
● Summer Break: A minimum duration of two months during July and August.
● Winter Break or Semester: A minimum of 250 working hours.
Internship Work Content Requirements
The internship position must be highly relevant to the student's academic field and the research area of the advisor's laboratory, and must be approved by the advisor.

Students may apply for a waiver of the Internship requirement, subject to approval by the Program Committee.

Applicants must have at least one year of relevant industry R&D experience.

★ A waiver based on prior work experience ONLY exempts students from the internship requirement and DOES NOT exempt them from the 3-credit requirement of the Internship course.
The required 3 credits must be fulfilled by taking other "professional courses".
