About Us
About Us
As a Catholic mission school, we raise young women to imitate the Virgin Mary in her purity, gentleness, and wisdom. We aim to instill the Christian values of love, gratitude, and a spirit of service in our students.
School life is achieved through prayer and studying in a tranquil atmosphere. In this space, teachers and students trust each other and learn the values of humanity through classes and school events.
Mother Mary,
may I be willing to do
that which
others hesitate to do
Our school was founded on December 8, 1934 by the first Japanese bishop, Januario Hisanosuke Hayasaka.
He had been given the mission of founding a Japanese congregation whose apostolic mission was "education and welfare." At the time, there was no Catholic high school for girls in Nagasaki, so he invited Yasu Ezumi to Nagasaki. She was a teacher at Kyoto Prefectural First High School for Girls and wished to lead a religious life. Together, they opened the Junshin Girls' Academy and began education.
This apostolic work of "education and welfare" has spread to Kagoshima, Tokyo, and Brazil. Our school will continue to keep moving forward with the aim of providing what our founders cherished, that is, "true education rooted in the Gospel."
