With the goal of advancing science, technology, innovation, and investments in Region X, MSU-IIT, together with the DOST-Region X, DTI-Region X, and the CCIFII of Iligan, and with the technical assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Science, Technology, Research, and Innovation for Development (STRIDE) Program, launched the Innovation through Leveraging, Industry, Government, Academe Networks and inclusive Community Engagements (ILIGANiCE) on June 30, 2021.
MSU-IIT spearheads the program, and will share its directory of knowledge and access to its innovation centers within the university to the community. The ILIGANiCE program hopes to host more support towards innovative business approaches in the region and share its network in supporting the needs of MSMEs in expanding their products to more people in the city and in the region.
MSU-IIT has solidified its reputation as a leading university in Mindanao by being named a Center for Sustainable Polymers - the first of its kind in the country.
MSU-IT was given the recognition in April by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) along with P107.3M in funding for the program and projects to be undertaken.
The designation of the University as a Center for Sustainable Polymers by DOST occurs under the agency’s new Niche Centers for Research and Development (NICER) Program.
