What is the difference between "footprint" and "the overall dimension?"
A footprint is the area on which the building sits. I note the overall dimensions because some buildings need a road permit to be transported from the school to the new site.
How do I place an order?
Contact me at twight@kpbsd.k12.ak.us or message me through Facebook. We will discuss your needs, determine your plan, and collect the payment. Once payment has been made, we will start working on your project. A typical build takes 4-6 weeks. Prepaid orders take precedence, so don't wait to place your order.
Do you sell sheds at cost?
No. The additional money made from the sale of every building project is spent on more materials, tools, and building the program.
What is the largest building your students can build?
We are limited to the size of our garage door, which is 12 feet tall and 12 feet wide. A 20-foot-long structure is about as large as we can build, but we have built a few that were 24 feet long.
I found a cute picture of a shed on Pinterest. Can your class draw it up and build it?
Yes. Provide us with as many pictures as possible, and we will work together to design/build your project.
I need a simple shed, no bells or whistles. Can you build one for me?
No. Adding two paint colors, a metal skirt, or building roof brackets allows students to sharpen their skills. Every building is an opportunity to learn something new.
Will one of your sheds work for a Sauna?
Just let us know that you will finish it off as a sauna. We will add a vented ridge cap and insulate the floor with 2" rigid foam.
Will you build me a chicken coop, greenhouse, or doghouse?
No. There are other resources for these structures.
What does the layout look like for a shower, toilet, and sink?
This is an unfinished picture of a cabin with a 10x16 footprint. The rendering below shows interior partitions that extend toward the ceiling. Shower pans are not included in the build, but if you provide a fiberglass pan, we will install it. Water lines are not included in the plumbing rough-in.
I love what your students are doing. How can I support your program?
Donations are the best way to support the program, but contacting our school board and expressing your appreciation is even better.
