ASCA model has three domains:

  1. Academic, career, and personal/social: The academic domain focuses on strategies and activities to support the advancement of each individual student’s ability to achieve. We use evidence-based lessons.
  2. Academic success: The career domain drives the skills, attitudes and knowledge needed for a student to matriculate from school to and through the world of work. •
  3.  The Personal/Social: This domain promotes personal and social growth for students to progress through school and into life. I use Cognitive Behavior Theory and Solution Focussed theory in individual and group counseling.

Confidentiality:

School Counselors have a primary obligation to ensure confidentiality with their client, the student. Any student working with the school counselor has the right to privacy and the promise of confidentiality. In order to ensure meaningful and honsest dialogue within the counseling relationship, the student must be able to have trust and confidence in their school counselor.

Vision and Mission of the Nikiski School Counseling Program:

Vision: All students will achieve academic success, social emotional growth, and will attain a fulfilling career in the future that is alligned with their interests and abilities. Student will be prepared to function as empowered members of our community where they show empathy, compassion and respect for all.

Mission: The counseling department is to provide a data driven comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the needs and interests of all students as it relates to their academic, social emotional, and college/career development. Our program promotes a positive school climate that fosters acceptance of diversity, empathy for all and perseverance through all of life's challenges. We advocate for our students and teach them to advocate for themselves so that they have the opportunity to acquire the skills needed to achieve success in an ever-changing world.
