The Teal Stripe

What is it?

The Teal Stripe is a symbol of honor for Stingray Football. Players who receive this honor have shown to be upstanding models within the Stingray Football Program in all facets. The physical award is a Teal version of the single white helmet stripe worn on all helmets. Those who earn the award will have their white stripe removed and replaced with The Teal Stripe.

How is it earned?

There is not a set outline for how one earns their Teal Stripe. A coach will nominate and present a case for a player to receive their Teal Stripe. Coaches will discuss and then vote on the proposal.

How many receive it?

This award is not given lightly. Most players will not receive this award. Therefore, there is not a minimum or a limit who can receive this award in any given season. This award will stay with the player during their entire time with the program. This means a player who earns their Teal Stripe while in 7th grade will continue to wear it in 8th grade.

Currently only 10.2% of players have received a Teal Stripe since the tradition started.
