Bus Rider / Car Rider Drop Off - Pick Up Procedures

Important: Please be reminded that it is the expectation that parents/guardians self screen their child-children daily prior to sending off or bringing to school. If your child is displaying symptoms they should stay at home, and you will need to contact the school nurse within 24 hours.

Please inform your child of the information below as our procedures for them have changed due to social distance guidelines, and how we will support them on the first few days of school. Please also see the map below for guidance (car loop is highlighted in yellow on the Map).

First Few Days of School Guidance for Students: We understand students may be anxious on the first day of school in know where to go. Please be ensured that staff will be located throughout the building with class lists in order to help and guide students to their homeroom. Teachers will also be outside their classrooms welcoming students.

Bus Rider Arrival: Students who ride buses will be required to wear a mask. Administration will supervise the unloading of buses to stagger entrance into our building. 6th grade students will enter through the main doors, and 5th grade will enter through the main entrance side door labeled 5th grade entrance. Staff will assist with directing students over the first few days of school.

Car Rider Arrival: SJIS doors open at 6:45 for student arrival. We ask that morning car riders pull all the way up to the end of our awning to let students out of their vehicles. It is our expectation that all parents proceed through the car rider line in front of the school when dropping of students. Parents are not permitted to drop students off in the parking lot, or to park and walk students to the building. Students will be expected to socially distance walking into the building. 5th grade students will enter the front of the building through the door labeled 5th grade entrance, and 6th grade will enter through the door labeled 6th grade entrance. Students will then proceed to their respective check in line before heading to classes.

Car Rider Dismissal: SJIS school day ends at 2:30 pm. Car riders will be double stacked up to the chains on the front drive, alternating a number of cars in each lane. A staff member will call student names into the building and you will proceed to the pick up area. We ask that you pull your vehicle as forward as possible. In order to decrease student congregating in front of the school students will be waiting socially distanced in the building. Please be patient as the procedure may take longer this year.
