All Rise is made with bold gouache paint colors to give it that vibrant pop art feel. Hampton was inspired by pop art, specifically Keltie Ferris and Raymond Pettibon. We see her incorporating elements of Keltie Ferris’ Neighbors oil painting in the background with various color squares corresponding to the colors used to create the figure of Aaron Judge. Being from the greater New York City area, watching baseball, especially the New York Yankees,  is a large part of Hampton’s life. Raymond Pettibon is known for his baseball artworks, which sparked inspiration for Kylie. She loved Pettibon’s No Title (Play Ball!) piece from 1989 and wanted to incorporate some elements of the pop artist’s work in her piece. This is the first gouache painting Hampton has ever made; she first considered watercolor but decided that it did not do the pop art style she was going for justice. Attending college in Massachusetts, where everyone is a die-hard Red Sox fan, this painting creates a sense of home for her. Aside from home, this painting also motivates Kylie, reminding her of her family and wanting to do well in her respective sport, field hockey.
