📦Engineering Department Inventory
The Engineering Department has a variety of equipment and resources available to support your coursework, projects, and research. To make finding what you need easier, our equipment is organized into two main inventories:
Stockroom Inventory – Equipment located in the Engineering Stockroom and available for student checkout.
Research Equipment Inventory – Major equipment located in faculty laboratory spaces.
Both inventories are maintained using Google Sheets and can be accessed only by using your @g.hmc.edu account.
The Engineering Stockroom has a variety of equipment and materials available to support engineering courses, student projects, and other approved activities.
You may find equipment such as:
Oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multimeters
Soldering stations
Computers, laptops, and iPads
Motors, gears, heat sinks, and fans
Microscopes and ph meters
Glassware, pipettes, and ppe
Other engineering equipment and materials
Check the Stockroom Inventory sheet to see what equipment is available.
Found something you need? Great! Checkout arrangements are made directly between you and the Instructional Support Coordinator (ISC).
Before taking equipment from the Stockroom:
Find the equipment in the inventory sheet.
Talk with the ISC about what you need.
Agree on a checkout period and any requirements.
Take care of the equipment while it's checked out.
Return the equipment as agreed.
If something is damaged, missing, or isn't working correctly, please let the ISC know as soon as possible. I'd much rather know about a problem than have you spend an afternoon trying to convince a broken oscilloscope to cooperate.
Major research equipment is maintained separately from the general Stockroom Inventory. This equipment is typically located in a faculty member's laboratory or research space and supports faculty research and specialized projects.
The Research Equipment Inventory sheet provides information about major research equipment maintained within faculty laboratory spaces.
You can use the inventory sheet to see what equipment is available within the department, but being listed on the sheet doesn't mean the equipment is automatically available for student use.
Before using research equipment:
Identify the equipment you need.
Check the Research Equipment Inventory.
Contact the appropriate faculty member for approval.
Complete any required training or safety requirements.
Follow the faculty member's instructions for using the equipment.
Return the equipment to its designated location when you're finished (if applicable).
Please don't enter a faculty laboratory or use research equipment without the appropriate authorization!
