Do you need a tool for your next lab, Clinic project, or late-night engineering breakthrough? The Engineering Stockroom’s 24/7 Student Access Area is here to help.
Declared engineering students, E4 students, and other approved users have 24/7 ID access to this dedicated space. Inside, you’ll find tools, hardware, and electrical components available whenever your schedule allows.
To keep tools and equipment accessible for everyone, the 24/7 Student Access Area's checkouts are limited to 72 hours and include:
Wired drills and dremels
Screwdriver sets (mini, torx, assortment)
Bar clamps and handi clamps
Glue guns and heat guns
Hammers and rubber mallets
Nitrile, vinyl, and latex gloves
If you need to hold onto something longer, contact the Instructional Support Coordinator for their approval before your checkout period ends.
We trust our students to care for this shared resource by:
Returning all tools and equipment on time within 72 hours and in good condition.
Keeping the area clean and organized for others.
Understanding that repeated late returns, missing items, or damaged tools may result in loss of card access privileges.
Can’t find what you need in the Engineering Stockroom? You may be able to find it in another department or the Makerspace! Each department maintains its own supply of specialized materials and tools to support its coursework and research, so it's important to consult the interactive map below to find the resource that best suits your needs.
The Biology Stockroom supports projects involving biological or medical work, offering supplies such as pipettes, needles, biological samples, and lab safety materials. It is the best resource for work involving biological handling or sterile environments.
Students can review the "Biological Safety Manual" for guidelines on safe practices and procedures.
Biology Stockroom Manager: Jenny Nguyen (jnguyen@hmc.edu)
Location: Olin Science Center, Room 1258
The Makerspace provides training and safety guidance for design and prototyping tools, including 3D printers, laser cutters, and workshop equipment. Resources include safety quizzes, workshops, and equipment usage guidelines as listed on the "Makerspace Website."
Makerspace Manager: Elissa Avelar (eavelar@hmc.edu)
Location: McGregor, Room 121
The Machine Shop supports safe fabrication and machining practices for student projects. Resources include safety rules, required quizzes, and approved equipment lists as listed on their "HMC Machine Shop Website."
Machine Shop Manager: Drew Price (dprice@hmc.edu)
Location: Galileo Hall, Room B005
The Chemistry Stockroom provides a wide range of chemical reagents, glassware, and specialized lab equipment not available in the Engineering Stockroom. It is the best resource for projects involving chemical processes, materials work, or interdisciplinary research.
Students can also explore the department’s "Chemistry Safety Resources," including guidance on chemical hygiene, waste disposal, nanomaterials, and safe laboratory practices.
Chemistry Stockroom Manager: Daniel Guerra (dguerra@hmc.edu)
Location: Jacobs Science Center, Room 2310
The Physics Stockroom provides tools and components similar to those in Engineering, making it a great resource for projects involving circuits, instrumentation, and physical testing.
Students can also explore the department’s "Physics Student Safety" resources, which include guidance on laser safety and radiation safety.
Physics Stockroom Manager: B.J. Haddad (bhaddad@hmc.edu)
Location: Jacobs Science Center, Basement Room B122
