At our campus, we proudly use the Second Step Elementary Program® as our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) platform. This research-based program helps students build essential skills like empathy, emotion management, and problem-solving. Every Monday, our teachers deliver engaging lessons focused on one key component of SEL, guiding students to develop strong social and emotional foundations.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is just as important at home as it is at school. These skills help children build strong friendships, manage their emotions, and face challenges with confidence. By practicing SEL together, we’re helping your child grow into a caring and resilient person both inside and outside the classroom.
Our school counselor plays a vital role in supporting SEL on our campus by:
Individual and Group Counseling: Providing sessions that help students develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills.
Conflict Resolution and Peer Mediation: Facilitating programs or interventions that teach students how to resolve conflicts peacefully and communicate effectively.
SEL Program Coordination: Organizing and supporting school-wide SEL initiatives, workshops, and activities that promote a positive school climate and social skills development.
Together, with the support of our teachers and counselor, we create a nurturing environment that helps every student thrive socially and emotionally.
Our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program takes a comprehensive approach to support your child’s growth in all areas—emotional, social, and academic. By teaching important skills like empathy, resilience, and teamwork consistently at school and beyond, we help create a positive, safe environment where every child can thrive. This approach not only boosts academic success but also builds strong mental health and lifelong skills for well-being. For more information on this from Second Step®, click here.
