Step 1 - Introduction Video

Watch the introduction video on the left from Mr. Sears that explains the entire process that will take place that will make sure that you have the classes that you need for next year.

At the conclusion of the process, you will have registered for SIX courses for EACH semester. You will also indicate FIVE alternate electives that you would like to take if your first choices are not available.

Step 2 - Research Electives

Use the rest of this website to research and find electives that you might be interested in taking. For entry-level electives, you will find the course numbers listed. Print out and use the AHS Elective Worksheet and the Rising 9th Grade Elective Registration Information Sheet to keep track of the course numbers for classes that you are interested in. This will be important when you must enter your selections into StudentVue in the student portal. Don't forget that you will need to enter FIVE Alternate Electives.

Step 3 - Entering Elective Choices into StudentVue

At the beginning of February, you will be able to enter your elective choices and FIVE alternate choices into StudentVue. We will make an announcement when you are able to begin this step.

Watch this important VIDEO that will give you a brief overview of the process. This video can only be watched by students that are logged into their student portal. Here are detailed StudentVUE Course Request Instructions as well.

If there are pre-selected courses that you wish to change, fill out the form below.

Step 4 - Review Core Subject Placements

Core subjects and their levels were determined by all academic data that we have on your student.

All students currently taking Algebra at McConnell MS will be enrolled in Algebra again at Archer HS. Those students who score proficient or distinguished on the EOC in the spring will be moved to Geometry if their grade and 8th-grade teacher recommendations align with the change. As always, parents will have an opportunity to discuss math placement.

We highly recommend that most students do not accept the Carnegie Unit for Algebra. Our historical data indicates that students benefit from an additional year of Algebra at the high school level. This additional year provides a strong foundation for future math courses. The success rate for students who move directly to Geometry has not been high, particularly for those students who do not score in the proficient or distinguished range on the Algebra End of Course test.

If there are pre-selected courses that you wish to change, fill out the form below.

AP Course Information: If you wish to drop or to add an Advanced Placement Course, fill out the AP Schedule Change Request 21-22

Step 5 - Course Request Verification

In a few weeks, at the conclusion of the course request entry process, students and parents will be required to verify that the course requests selected for the 2021-2022 school year are correct. There will be an additional opportunity to make changes in the late Spring and re-verify.
