December
1) Finish strong in your classes! You should be striving for A's and B's in your high school courses so that you can make sure you get into the college DE courses.
2) ALL Dual Enrollment students need to join the google classroom. The code to join the DE google classroom is zwgzdce. The link to join the class is included below if you would rather use that join method. This is for students only and you should join from your GCPS google account (just like all of your other courses at MVHS).
3a) Be thinking of what college you would like to apply to for DE. Keep in mind that the ONLY college that will be offered on the MVHS campus will be Gwinnett Technical College. If you choose GTC, you will have the option to stay on the MVHS campus to complete your course work for the college. It is highly encouraged that all juniors choose GTC, so that we can help you through the process for DE. Your GTC Dual Enrollment contact will be Amy Holcombe.
3b) If you choose ANY other college, (GGC, UNG, etc.) then you will NOT be able to attend our in-house DE classes. You will need to take DE courses off of the MVHS campus (and provide your transportation). If you are interested a school other than Gwinnett Technical College (GTC), you MUST make an appointment with your counselor before you register for any DE classes. A link to the counseling website is below. Your non-GTC Dual Enrollment contact will be your MVHS counselor.
The directions that follow are specific to Gwinnett Technical College DE students.
If you are interested a school other than Gwinnett Technical College (GTC), you MUST make an appointment with your counselor before you register for any DE classes. Your non-GTC Dual Enrollment contact will be your MVHS counselor.
4) If you are choosing to participate in our on-campus DE option (most of you), you will apply to Gwinnett Technical College. I am including application instructions below. PLEASE FOLLOW THEM CAREFULLY. Also, please include your social security number in the application. If you do not, you will have to physically go to the school later and provide documentation for them to accept you. DO NOT USE A CELL PHONE TO CREATE THIS ACCOUNT. You will need to choose Fall 2025 as your starting semester.
5) After you apply, within 72 hours, your GTC account will be set up with your 900 student #. You can also check your GTC application status by logging in to your account at GTC. In that email, you will have your student # for GTC.
Once you get your 900#, email it to me at amy.holcombe@gcpsk12.org. Once I get this email, I can check to make sure you applied correctly. Once this is approved, I will send in your test scores/transcripts to Gwinnett Tech for you! 😃
** Please note, Mrs. Holcombe cannot see your GTC status. If you are having trouble with your application, email dualenrollment@gwinnetttech.edu and they will help you.
6) If you want to take ANY Summer 2025 courses, it will need to be approved by your counselor.

1) Complete the Dual Enrollment Tuition Acknowledgement (DETA) form for GTC. Go the this webpage, https://gwinnetttech.edu/dualenrollment/apply/#de-register, and it is on choice #2. You will need your 900# to complete it. See the email at the top of this form so you can send it in correctly. You will NOT email it to me.
** Please note, Mrs. Holcombe cannot see your GTC status. If you are having trouble with your application, email dualenrollment@gwinnetttech.edu and they will help you.
2) Once you complete all of the above steps, I will send you a notice to come see me about your schedule for 2025-2026.

2) See Jennifer Rodriguez in the commons during all lunches on Thurs, 2/27 if you need help with the application process or you can email dualenrollment@gwinnetttech.edu for help.

March
The directions that follow are specific to Gwinnett Technical College DE students.
1) Once you have submitted all documents, check your GTC account frequently to know if you GTC has processed your documents. You will also be able to see when you have been accepted! Send Mrs. Holcombe a picture of your acceptance at GTC! Make sure you send it to amy.holcombe@gcpsk12.org
** Please note, Mrs. Holcombe cannot see your GTC status. If you are having trouble with your application, email dualenrollment@gwinnetttech.edu and they will help you.
2) If you have not completed the above tasks by March 7, 2025, you may not have a spot in our on campus DE at MVHS.
3) Once you have been Accepted to GTC, you will need to login to your Dashboard account. Go to this link and watch the Dashboard Log in Instructions.
4) You will also need to set up your Okta Verify system. This is a two-step verification system to access your GTC classes, etc. It needs to be set up before you can register for your classes in April. You only have to set it up one time. Then, each time you log in to your GTC account, you will be sent a verification code on your phone to verify that you are the correct person trying to log in to your account. The student must use their phone number (not a parent or guardian phone number) for this access. If the student does not have a phone, the student can use a personal email account for verification.
** Please note, Mrs. Holcombe cannot see your GTC status. If you are having trouble with your application, email dualenrollment@gwinnetttech.edu and they will help you.
5) In preparation for the 2025/2026 school year, here is the "come late/leave early" form. This form is live and you may fill it out starting March 17, 2025. You must have the correct courses at GTC AND have uploaded the "student detailed schedule" into the DE google classroom in order to earn this privilege (December task #2 was to join google classroom).
This is the form to fill out if you are interested in coming to school late or leaving early for the 2025-2026 school year. You will need to provide your own transportation. If you choose to be off campus for part of the day, you are not allowed to be on campus during that part of the day.
For example, if you have a 1st period DE online course and choose to not attend in person, you will come in for your 2nd period class. You are not allowed to come in 1st period and hang out with another teacher, be in the field house or media center, etc. You are not to be on campus at all for 1st period. The same applies for choosing to be DE online at the end of the school day. You are to leave campus for that period. You will not be able to hang out in your coach's room or be in the band room during that period. These are just a few examples.
This is not a requirement; it is an opportunity if you are taking any online Dual Enrollment courses.
This DOES NOT apply to Mrs. McDaniel's face-to-face ENG 1101/1102/2130 courses.
This form will close on April 30, 2025.
You will not have this opportunity after April 30, 2025 as we need to be able set schedules for the 2025-2026 school year.

The email that I sent everyone is below:
Here are some instructions for registration. They are also on the DE website. You will need to know how to log in to your GTC account.
