Play the above audio for More Info on creating a GaFutures account.
December
1) Finish strong in your classes! You should be striving for A's and B's in your high school courses so that you can make sure you get into the college DE courses.
2) ALL Dual Enrollment students need to join the google classroom. The code to join the DE google classroom for the 2026-2027 school year is ehqri6wj.
The link to join the class is included below if you would rather use that join method. This is for students only and you should join from your GCPS google account (just like all of your other courses at MVHS).
3a) Be thinking of what college you would like to apply to for DE. Keep in mind that the ONLY college that will be offered on the MVHS campus will be Gwinnett Technical College. If you choose GTC, you will have the option to stay on the MVHS campus to complete your course work for the college. It is highly encouraged that all juniors choose GTC, so that we can help you through the process for DE. Your GTC Dual Enrollment contact will be Amy Holcombe.
3b) If you choose ANY other college, (GGC, UNG, etc.) then you will NOT be able to attend our in-house DE classes. You will need to take DE courses off of the MVHS campus (and provide your transportation). If you are interested a school other than Gwinnett Technical College (GTC), you MUST make an appointment with your counselor before you register for any DE classes. A link to the counseling website is below. Your non-GTC Dual Enrollment contact will be your MVHS counselor.
The directions that follow are specific to Gwinnett Technical College DE students.
If you are interested a school other than Gwinnett Technical College (GTC), you MUST make an appointment with your counselor before you register for any DE classes. Your non-GTC Dual Enrollment contact will be your MVHS counselor.
4) If you are choosing to participate in our on-campus DE option (most of you), you will apply to Gwinnett Technical College. I am including application instructions below. PLEASE FOLLOW THEM CAREFULLY. You will NOT choose a major; your major should be Early College Essentials. Also, please include your social security number in the application. If you do not, you will have to physically go to the school later and provide documentation for them to accept you. DO NOT USE A CELL PHONE TO CREATE THIS ACCOUNT. You will need to choose Fall 2026 as your starting semester.
5) You need to check your GTC application status by logging in to your account at GTC. After you apply, usually within 72 hours, your GTC account will be set up with your 900 student #. If you do not see an email, check your junk/spam folder OR you can log into your GTC account and the 900# should be there.
Please make sure you record this number someone that is accessible. It is your student # for the college.
Once you get your 900#, email it to me at amy.holcombe@gcpsk12.org. Once I get this email, I can check to make sure you applied correctly. Once this is approved, I will send in your test scores/transcripts to Gwinnett Tech for you! 😃 There is no need for you to send your transcripts. I will do it for you :)
** Please note, Mrs. Holcombe cannot see your GTC status. If you are having trouble with your application, email dualenrollment@gwinnetttech.edu and they will help you.
6) If you want to take ANY Summer 2026 courses, please email me with your interest (amy.holcombe@gcpsk12.org). I will see if you are a good fit for summer.
January
The directions that follow are specific to Gwinnett Technical College DE students.
1) Complete the Dual Enrollment Tuition Acknowledgement (DETA) form for GTC. https://gwinnetttech.edu/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/DETA-11.25.pdf. You will need your 900# to complete it. Send it to the email at the top of this form. Email from your personal email as they will not receive it if you email from your GCPS email. You will NOT email it to me.
** Please note, Mrs. Holcombe cannot see your GTC status. If you are having trouble with your application, email dualenrollment@gwinnetttech.edu and they will help you.
2) Once you complete all of the above steps, I will send you a notice to come see me about your schedule for 2026-2027. These meetings will start sometime in late February. This is a long process and there are a lot of students to see, so I appreciate your patience in advance. Please do not email to ask for a meeting. I will let you know when it is time to meet.
3) As students are determining courses for the 2026-2027 school year, they will need to put in course requests like they will not be taking DE courses. Once we meet and determine the DE courses that you will take, I will then change your course requests.
4) Here is the email that I sent on 1/15/26. If you did not get it, you either have not signed the Interest form for 2026-2027 (the 1st step in this process) or your email is not receiving messages.
Hello all, A few things....
You should have completed the Application process for DE for the months of October, November, December, and January.
Those that have sent me their 900# for Gwinnett Tech, I have sent your transcript to GTC for you! They need 5 to 10 business days to process the transcript, so please be patient.
You are currently talking about course requests for the 2026-2027 school year with your teachers. For now, you will submit course requests with no DE courses on it.
I will let you all know when I will be having individual meetings with new DE students for the 2026-2027 school year. I will start these in late February. I am currently meeting with juniors that are in DE this year to map out their senior year. I will let you know when we can meet; so please do not email me asking for a meeting. There are over 400 current and prospective DE students for 2026-2027. Thank you for your patience. Until we meet, make sure you are researching courses that interest you on the DE website and also speaking with current DE students. They are your best source to understand how the program works. That way, when we do meet, you will be prepared with questions, etc.
Keep in mind that this is a process. The college takes time to process documents. When you submit a document, it is not an instant turnaround. They need at least 5 to 10 business days to process. That is why it is important to have this process completed early so that when it is time to register for courses at GTC, you will be ready! Keep checking your account to make sure everything is turned in correctly. The only thing that you cannot complete now is the GaFutures funding application for 2026-2027 because it is not open. That is the February step. I will let you know when it opens.
Thank you for your interest in the DE program for 2026-2027!
February
The directions that follow are specific to Gwinnett Technical College DE students.

** Please note, Mrs. Holcombe cannot see your GTC status. If you are having trouble with your application, email dualenrollment@gwinnetttech.edu and they will help you.
Once you complete it, you will be able to go to "My Dual Enrollment Profile" in your GaFutures account and it should look like the sample entry below.
March: Current Step
The directions that follow are specific to Gwinnett Technical College DE students.
1) Once you have submitted all documents, check your GTC account frequently to know if you GTC has processed your documents. You will also be able to see when you have been accepted! Send Mrs. Holcombe a picture of your acceptance at GTC! Make sure you send it to amy.holcombe@gcpsk12.org
** Please note, Mrs. Holcombe cannot see your GTC status. If you are having trouble with your application, email dualenrollment@gwinnetttech.edu and they will help you. Here is a checklist to make sure you have completed everything in order to be ACCEPTED! https://gwinnetttech.edu/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/5839FixedRevised_DualEnrollmentChecklist_Feb252026.pdf
2) If you have not completed the above tasks by March 15, 2026, you may not have a spot in our on campus DE at MVHS.
3) Once you have been Accepted to GTC, you will need to login to your Dashboard account. Go to this link and watch the Dashboard Log in Instructions.
4) You will also need to set up your Okta Verify system. This is a two-step verification system to access your GTC classes, etc. It needs to be set up before you can register for your classes in April. You only have to set it up one time. You must have a laptop/chrome book and a phone to set up this verification. You cannot set it up with a phone only. Directions are below.
** Please note, Mrs. Holcombe cannot see your GTC status. If you are having trouble with your application, email dualenrollment@gwinnetttech.edu and they will help you.
5) In preparation for the 2026/2027 school year, here is the "come late/leave early" form. This form is live and you may fill it out starting March 17, 2025. You must have the correct courses at GTC AND have uploaded the "student detailed schedule" into the DE google classroom in order to earn this privilege (December task #2 was to join google classroom).
This is the form to fill out if you are interested in coming to school late or leaving early for the 2026-2027 school year. You will need to provide your own transportation. If you choose to be off campus for part of the day, you are not allowed to be on campus during that part of the day.
For example, if you have a 1st period DE online course and choose to not attend in person, you will come in for your 2nd period class. You are not allowed to come in 1st period and hang out with another teacher, be in the field house or media center, etc. You are not to be on campus at all for 1st period. The same applies for choosing to be DE online at the end of the school day. You are to leave campus for that period. You will not be able to hang out in your coach's room or be in the band room during that period. These are just a few examples.
This is not a requirement; it is an opportunity if you are taking any online Dual Enrollment courses. If your grades or attendance is effected by this opportunity, this opportunity will be revoked and you will be required to attend all periods at MVHS.
This DOES NOT apply to Mrs. McDaniel's face-to-face ENG 1101/1102 courses.
This form will close on April 30, 2026.
You will not have this opportunity after April 30, 2026 as we need to be able set schedules for the 2026-2027 school year.
