Class: 1 semester each of Economics and American Government (only open to HG students who were successful in 10th and 11th History courses).
Structure: Welcome to Online Economics and American Government! In this course, you can expect asynchronous learning, so if you are interested in having a more flexible schedule, this may be for you! You will be asked to follow a unit schedule where you will need to watch videos, take practice quizzes, complete USA Test Prep assignments, and receive feedback by a certain date. It is imperative that you are motivated to complete and understand how to manage your time effectively. Your instructor is available daily for any questions, help, or guidance, but it is up to you to reach out! In each unit, you will be provided with a mandatory test review. Your instructor will ask each student to log into zoom and participate in a review session the day before the test. Here is where you will also review important dates and new announcements for the course. Students who fall below passing will be pulled from the asynchronous experience at the six, nine, and twelve week mark and only will be given permission to continue asynchronously once they begin passing. At the end of the semester, students who have shown their performance to be unsatisfactory (little participation, failing grade, etc.) will be removed from the online course and put into a regular Economics course.
*District Assessments, SPGs, CFAs, or other assessments may be required to be taken at school. Your teachers will give you advanced notice.
*NOTE: Acceptance into Online Econ/AmGov DOES NOT GUARANTEE PARKING. In the event that you do not get a parking spot, you will have to provide your own transportation to school. Since this is an online class, you are not allowed to ride the bus to school and simply ‘hang out’ until your face to face period.
