Business partnerships within our community are an important part of STEAM. Our business partners provide invaluable resources and opportunities for students to apply their STEAM skills to real-world problems. Students learn about careers in STEAM while getting to be hands-on with role models. These experiences in problem-based learning will carry over into other areas of their lives. We love and appreciate the many business partners that work with our students!

Food Well Alliance
Food Well Alliance awarded a grant to Lovin Elementary School in 2022 called the Compost Connectors. Compost Connectors program exposes students & families to growing, eating and cooking local food through hands-on experiences with the compost cycle. Students will gain an understanding that food comes from the soil before it hits the grocery store or the market - and that healthy food requires healthy soil. Students and families may use this new knowledge to change their behavior and preferences. Students have the potential to carry their knowledge to the next level and pursue careers in sustainable food systems. Regardless of whether these things happen, we are changing lives.
Lovin Elementary School was one of six metro Atlanta schools to receive this amazing three-year grant. They will gradually be implementing a sustainable school-wide composting program. Ultimately, students will be learning the how’s and why’s of composting to build healthier communities through increased access to locally grown food.
Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful
Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful has supported and been very hands on with Lovin Elementary School for many years. They help with students in the STEAM Garden, the UGA Pollinator Census, and composting. They have co-taught lessons with teachers, shared ideas and resources at the Green and Healthy Schools meetings and have been advocates for our recycling and waste reduction programs.
UGA Extension Service
UGA Extension along with UGA 4H supports Lovin in so many ways. They assist with composting, chickens, and the STEAM Garden. They teach lessons to the students (and teachers), and they sponsor clubs such as Litte Veterinarian’s and Little Doctors. Their expertise and support are second to none!

Archer High School
Archer High School has been a wonderful partner school with Lovin Elementary School. Lovin collaborates with Archer on STEM and AgSTEM integration. Archer has also collaborated with Lovin while building a chicken coop, aquaponics, leading STEM Vertical meetings together, and presenting at Green and Healthy Schools meetings together.
Collins Creek Honey
Dave and Cindy Collins, from Collins Creek Honey, support our students and their STEAM learning in many ways. Each August, they assist with the Great Georgia Pollinator Census by conducting lessons and helping the students gather data. They are a huge help at our STEAM Showcase as well! In the spring, they come back to Lovin to work with our second graders on their pollinator PBL project and pollinator garden! They have been amazing community partners since 2019!
Georgia Power and Department of Water Resources
Georgia Power and Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources have been supporting Lovin for many years. They come out to Lovin and host free in-house field trips for our students K-5.
Tixie Fowler: Soil and Water Conservation
Tixie Fowler, who is a certified Environmental Educator, Master Gardener & Master Georgia Naturalist, has helped us in many ways. She has come out to Lovin multiple years to help with the Great Georgia Pollinator Census. She also conducted the Project Learning Tree staff development here at Lovin. https://www.plt.org/network/georgia/
This was a six hour certification class to teach how to incorporate project-based natural resource education into ALL content areas. Tixie was also one of our community partners that helped coordinate our Aquaponics program with Mercer University. She is amazing!

Buck Jones Nursery
Buck Jones Nursery has been a consistent and wonderful business partner for many years. They have attended and supported students with the UGA Great Georgia Pollinator Census. They have also donated plants and supplied soil and mushroom compost for our gardens.
Grant Boys Honey
Grant Boys Honey has been one of Lovin’s community partnerships since 2021. The boys (along with their dad) come to Lovin to talk about their beekeeping, pollinators, and how at such a young age they became entrepreneurs. They have presented to our second and fifth graders, helped with our pollinator census, and each spring they send informational videos to our second graders in their Adopt a Hive program. Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department
Lovin Elementary School has partnered with the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department since 2018. Their on-site Master Gardener, Officer James Wilson, has helped in Lovin’s STEAM Garden and with our Eco-Heroes Environmental Club. Representatives from the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department have also helped with the Great Georgia Pollinator Census for multiple years. Every time they have the opportunity to get their hands dirty and work with Lovin’s students, they are there!
LPBC Architecture
LPBC Architecture has worked with our third graders during their unit on heat to learn more about conductors and insulators. They have come out to present, help with projects, and give feedback to our students.
USDA
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) partnered with Lovin Elementary in the fall of 2022. The USDA focuses on Urban Agriculture and opportunities for students to build their knowledge and capacity in this area. They partnered with The Little Red Barn mobile petting farm and Fort Valley State University to bring experiences to students and showcase opportunities that schools can do to partner with the USDA.
Homecraft Gutters
Homecraft Gutters generously donated our entire rain barrel system and installed it in our STEAM Garden. We use our rain barrel to recycle water for our STEAM Garden and our chickens!
