We will learn about the habitats of Georgia, and the types of animals that live in each one.
Students will be able to:
ask and answer questions about what allows plants and animals to grow and thrive in their specific regions
construct an explanation using evidence to explain why certain adaptations allow for plants and animals to survive in their regions
We will learn about soil and the best conditions for growing and sustaining plants in Georgia.
Students will be able to:
plan and carry out investigations to describe properties of soils (i.e., color, texture, capacity to retain water, and ability to support growth of plants) and soil types (i.e., sand, clay, loam)
make observations of the local environment to construct an explanation of how water and wind have made changes to soil and rocks over time
In this unit, we are going to be studying fossils!
We will learn about different types of pollution and the effects on our environment.
Students will be able to identify and differentiate between the three types of pollution (air, land, and water). Students will also be able to identify the effects of humans on the environment and plan and carry out investigations to find a solution.
We will learn about sources of heat around us.
Students will be able to:
In our last unit, we will be learning about different rocks and minerals.
Students will be able to:
We will build on our habitat unit by learning about animal adaptations for those habitats.
Students will be able to:
