What will you do if you have technology problems during the Georgia Milestones Assessment Test? I have included a few recommendations below.
All students will test on their GCPS Chromebooks.
If their device has an issue before GMAS testing dates, students should let their homeroom teacher know so they can place a tech ticket for repair.
Devices damaged during GMAS testing may result in attending the makeup session at a later date or during summer school. Unfortunately, we cannot replace broken devices quickly; repair can take up to ten business days.
Students should bring their fully charged GCPS-issued devices and chargers to school each testing day.
Students will call their parents if they forget their device (Grade Level Office).
If you have any more concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your grade-level assistant principal.
Technology Format of Georgia EOG and EOC Assessments
A technology-enhanced item is an innovative way to measure student skills and knowledge using scaffolding within a multi-step response. Four types of technology-enhanced items are used for ELA, mathematics, science, and social studies: multiple-select, multiple-part, drag and drop, and drop-down.
In multiple-select items, the student is asked to pick two or three correct responses from five or six possible answer options.
In multiple-part items, the student responds to a two-part item that combines multiple-choice and/or multiple-select. For these item types, the student selects the responses from the choices provided.
Drag and drop items allow response choices to be moved and placed in another location (such as a chart or map).
Drop-down input items allow students to select their response from a list.
In addition to these item types, ELA also uses a two-part item called an Evidence-Based Selected-Response (EBSR) item. In the first part of an EBSR item, the student responds to an inferential or key concept question related to a stimulus text. In the second part of an EBSR item, the student provides evidence from the exact text to support the inference or idea. In both parts of an EBSR item, the student selects the responses from the choices provided.
Mathematics will also present students with graphing items and keypad-input items.
Graphing items allows students to graph and label points and lines and shade regions in a coordinate plane.
Keypad-input items require students to answer a question by providing the corresponding mathematical expression or equation.
The following tasks will be completed during RAM Time or Homeroom (April 19):
Students must complete the technology readiness check before the first administration date for GMAS testing.
Students must complete the online student GMAS practice tests before the first administration date for GMAS testing.

On GMAS Testing Days:
Teachers should allow students to charge their Chromebooks before testing in homerooms.
Students who forget their Chromebooks or chargers will call home.
Chromebooks are available for students in the Grade Level Office.
A Chromebook charger is available for teachers to check out in the Grade Level Office.
At full charge, the Chromebook takes two hours to complete.
A fully charged Chromebook typically lasts two days, meaning a thirty percent charge will last throughout a test.
Students must remember their devices for a seamless testing experience.
The desktops are unavailable in the Media Center for GMAS testing; students should remember to bring their Chromebooks; otherwise, they may miss out on testing day.
Please email the 509 Testing Team if you need technology assistance.
Loss connection during GMAS testing - if the student receives the following message, email 509 Testing Team.
The system will allow the student to continue testing after the network issues are resolved.
Please remember that students' work is saved every 45 seconds to reduce the number of lost answers.
Resources for students to Experience Online Testing Georgia
Georgia students taking the GMAS online can access a practice site for training and sample questions. To practice using technology-enhanced items in an online environment similar to how they appear on the online test, visit Experience Online Testing Georgia. Google Chrome is the only supported browser for this public version of the online testing environment.
Below are the three areas available to Experience the Online Testing Georgia!
This site provides training methods and sample questions for online administration.

Cell Phones and Electronic Devices
Families should know that cell phones and smartwatches are prohibited in the testing environment. The school will have a plan for collecting devices during GMAS Testing. For example, students will be asked to place their cell phones and smartwatches in their book bags.
