**The 2026-2027 Dual Enrollment Deadline is April 5th, 2026**
**The 2026-2027 Dual Enrollment Deadline is April 5th, 2026**
Dual Enrollment Steps
**Note: Rising 10th Graders can only take Career Technical courses through Dual Enrollment unless they meet the test score requirements (SAT score = 1200 or higher / ACT score = 27 or higher).**
Step 1: Attend a Dual Enrollment (DE) Information Meeting or watch the recorded DE Presentation
2026-2027 Dual Enrollment Information Meeting scheduled for January 27, 2026 at 6:00pm. The meeting will be live on Zoom/Microsoft Teams.
Meeting Link: bit.ly/DHSDualEnrollment26
Step 2: Join the 26-27 Dual Enrollment Google Classroom (Students Only)
Google Classroom Code: poyqtqjx
Invite Link: https://classroom.google.com/c/ODQwODQxNjE1MTEz?cjc=poyqtqjx
Step 3: Research! Research! Research!
What college will you apply to for Dual Enrollment courses?
DHS offers Gwinnett Technical College courses on the DHS campus (ENGL 1101/2).
What are the college’s admission requirements? No flexibility on these requirements.
Where do you plan to go to college after graduation? Will the college accept DE credits? Does the college prefer students take AP courses instead of DE?
Are you mature enough to handle the additional responsibilities of a DE student?
Step 4: REMEMBER DULUTH’S DEADLINES
2026-2027 School Year: April 5th, 2026.
NOTE: Some colleges will have a later deadline, however, you must complete all steps by the Duluth High School Deadline.
Step 5: Submit your 2026-2027 Dual Enrollment Contract through the google classroom.
Step 6: Make a GA Futures Account
Step 7: Both Student and Parent/Guardian completes their portion of the funding application on GA Futures (Opens Feb. 26th)
A paper funding application form should only be used if you do not have a social security number.
Funding Applications cannot be started until FEB. 26th, 2026!
Step 8: Apply to the college you wish to attend for Dual Enrollment.
The most popular schools for Dual Enrollment: Gwinnett Technical College and Georgia Gwinnett College
DHS offers ENGL 1101/2 on campus through Gwinnett Technical College only!
Gwinnett Technical College - It is recommended to choose "Early College Essentials" as your degree/major to allow access to all the core subject college courses.
Step 9: Send your transcript to the college you applied to for Dual Enrollment.
Every college requires an official high school transcript to be sent from GAFutures or Parchment in order to complete the application and receive acceptance.
You can do so by logging on to GA Futures, navigating to College Planning and scrolling down - click High School Transcripts, then follow the prompts under My Transcript Request and press Send. Instruction found here: How to Send A Transcript - GAFUTURES
**Make sure DHS has your social security card on file in the counseling
office in order to utilize the GA Futures transcript function.**
Most colleges have a minimum GPA requirement that will satisfy testing requirements as well.
Gwinnett Technical College - 2.6 GPA minimum
Georgia Gwinnett College - 3.2 GPA minimum
Georgia State University - 3.2 GPA minimum (Perimeter) and 3.4 GPA minimum (Atlanta)
Step 9-A: Send your Test Scores: SAT/ACT/ACCUPLACER (Optional)
Remember, if you meet the minimum GPA requirement based on the most recent official transcript (Fall 2025) then you do not need to send a college entrance exam score for admission.
If you need to send a college entrance exam score for admissions:
Send your SAT School Day (March 17th) test score via College Board;
Sign up for the ACT via ACT.
In the event GPA is below acceptance requirement for Gwinnett Technical College, students can also sign up for the Accuplacer free of charge at Gwinnett Tech. Information can be found here: GTC Accuplacer Test Information / Registration
If you have taken an AP Test, send AP scores to the College as well to exempt intro level courses.
Step 9-B: Gwinnett Technical College Only - Submit DETA Form
If you applied to Gwinnett Technical College, then you must submit a DETA (Dual Enrollment Tuition Acknowledgment) Form to DEAdmissionsDocs@gwinnetttech.edu
Form linked here: GTC - DETA Form
You cannot be accepted to GTC until the form is submitted.
Step 10: After receiving your acceptance to the college, schedule an appointment to meet with your assigned counselor to plan your Duluth HS schedule (including Dual Enrollment) for the 2026-27 school year.
Please see Dual Enrollment Course Directory for more information on possible college courses.
Please review the list of Technical College courses that transfer in Georgia here: TCSG - USG - Official Transfer List
Search for the core curriculum requirements at your preferred destination college (after graduation) to get an idea on which courses can help satisfy both high school and college requirements.
Step 11: Register for classes at the college.
Follow the college's procedure for registering for college classes.
Find the Academic Calendar for your DE College and register for classes that you discussed with your counselor. Most college/universities open registration around April 1st, 2026.
Course Registration at the colleges are first-come/first-served so register as soon as you can!
Counselors DO NOT register students for classes at the college. It is the student's responsibility to register for the courses discussed with their school counselor.
IMPORTANT:
If you are planning to take a college class in person it MUST fit the DHS Bell Schedule and that you understand the attendance requirements for the college/university. High school always takes priority over Dual Enrollment.
An Off-Campus Permission form MUST be signed by a parent/guardian to take any DE course off DHS campus. Info/submission is on the DHS DE Google Classroom!
DHS can provide a study hall period within the school day to work on any DE online college course/s.
Step 12: Submit screenshot of your college DE schedule through the google classroom.
Your Duluth HS schedule will NOT include Dual Enrollment courses until we have received photo verification of enrollment on the DHS Dual Enrollment Google Classroom.
You MUST follow the listed DHS schedule if you fail to register for DE courses and/or don't send in course verification on time.
