The D3 Laboratories are primarily used by Peachtree Ridge Students in one of 5 ways:
SPIRE Classes
SPIRE Classes
SPIRE (STEM Program for Inspiring Rigor and Excellence) is the STEM program here at Peachtree Ridge and incorporates Science, Engineering, Language Arts, and Problem Based Learning content. As a result, the D3 Labs play a vital role in supporting these classes as the students work to design projects to solve real world problems. In particular, both SPIRE Physics and SPIRE AP Physics C classes, as well as our Mechatronics class, are held in classrooms within the suite of D3 Laboratories allowing them nearly daily access to the equipment and resources.

Prototyping Carts
Prototyping Carts
In response to the needs of our teachers, the Fall 2021 D3 Interns have built two customizable Prototyping Carts, which can be checked out by teachers to support projects in their classrooms, even if they are not project based classes! The Prototyping Carts are a fully French Cleat platform, with a variety of removable boxes which allow us to customize what resources and tools are available. We can provide all the consumables and tools needed for working with: Paper, Cardstock, small PVC, Cardboard, Popsicle Sticks/Dowel Rods, simple fabric, and more!
We have already seen meaningful deployment of the carts in our school's CP Physics and AP Physics classes. They even help support our SPIRE classes for projects that don't quite need the full D3 Space's capacities.

Clubs
Clubs
The D3 Labs supports a variety of school clubs, but the two which use the space most are the TSA club and the Robotics Club. Getting involved with either of these will mean you will be spending quite a bit of time in and around the D3 Labs. But they are not all: SWE Next, Science Olympiad, and even our new e-Sports team utilize the unique resources available at the D3 Labs at different times throughout the year.
D3 Internship
D3 Internship
Available primarily as a Senior Level capstone class, D3 internship is a special sub-category of the Gifted Internship class. Students who interview and are approved for D3 internship work daily in the D3 Labs and learn the machines at a far deeper level, including their inner workings and maintenance needs. D3 interns are also tasked with engineering/manufacturing commissions from both within and without of the school, working directly with the clients to develop solutions to a wide variety of problems. These interns embody the ultimate vision of the D3 Labs and are a select group.

Maker Hours
Maker Hours
We at the D3 Laboratories understand that SPIRE classes and the clubs listed above are not for every student. As a result, we created Maker Hours as a way of ensuring that we provide access to the D3 Laboratories for all students of PRHS regardless of their classes or clubs. Maker Hours are currently held every Wednesday from 2:10pm to 3:30pm and are open to any student, provided they have completed the appropriate Tool Safety Certifications and have a Parent Permission Form on file.

Student Safety Certification
Safety is the Number One priority of D3 Labs. As a result, we have a state-of-the-art OSHA aligned equipment safety certification process.
All equipment in the D3 Laboratories are locked in an un-energizeable state by default. The D3 Labs can be unlocked by Safety Zone by a certified teacher only. Students can complete the online safety training and then receive one on one practical training by a certified teacher, after which they will be "approved" for that Zone equipment. Student approval is tracked through a streamlined online process and displayed at all times on a monitor in the D3 Labs for teachers to reference as needed.
