HOSA was first organized by the six charter states: NJ, AL, NC, NM, OK, TX in Cherry Hill, NJ in 1975 but was officially founded at the Constitutional Convention in Arlington, TX in 1976. The original motto read: "The Hands of HOSA Mold the Health of Tomorrow." Each color of the HOSA emblem holds a specific meaning. Maroon resembles compassion of HOSA members. Navy blue resembles loyalty to the health profession. Medical White represents purity of purpose.
