This week-long program, teaches skills in areas such as animal handling, anatomy and physiology, grooming, first aid, health and disease, clinical practices, veterinary terminology, and safety and sanitation.
This program allows students to experience the reward of caring for animals while exploring science.

This week-long interactive, hands-on automotive class, will teach students the basics of automotive shop safety, tools and their usage, general maintenance, tires, alignment, and many fun discussions about the automotive world!
This class is also a great way to learn how to help your family, make connections to vehicles in the movie world, and learn how to make money servicing cars.

Participants engage in hands-on activities, learning basic hairstyling, makeup application, and healthy skin care regimens. Outside of learning those skills we also strive to increase the participants' confidence in handling all hair types, increasing dexterity, and how to maintain a clean and sanitary workspace.

Students with a passion for Fashion will learn how to take their ideas from sketches on paper to a real-life garment they can wear.
Students will learn the basics of how to design fashion and all about the different facets of the fashion industry. This two-week experience will lead students to create a series of daily fashion projects that they can take home at the end of each visit. Each camp day is engaging and fun as we break into different classes with various fashion themes – sewing, illustration, branding, marketing- with creativity always on the daily agenda! Students will spend a week exploring fashion starting with inspiration and ending with industry skills. Each student will leave camp with a variety of projects and their own custom set of Fashion tools to continue creating at home. This is a two-week course.

In our culinary arts sessions, students will learn more about farm fresh ingredients and local sourcing. Students will explore gardening including hydroponics and beekeeping. Students will take raw ingredients and create a variety of dishes.
Our professional-level kitchen is stocked with pro equipment to create endless possibilities and real-life experiences. This hands-on approach will turn your middle schoolers into inspiring professional chefs.

In this one-week program, students will have the opportunity to cultivate skills in drawing and other traditional media, as well as in the graphic programs of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. They will be exposed to typography, photography, 3d printing, photo editing, and so much more. Students will have the ability to 3D print, and create posters and stickers to take home at the end of the sessions.

**Due to the rigor of content, this program is open only to rising 6th-8th graders. This is a two-week course.
Students will develop academic/career/life skills including critical reading, persuasive writing, public speaking, debate, and teamwork as they learn about court rules, analysis of facts and law, and how to raise and defend against evidentiary objections.

This week-long summer academy will expose middle school students to key music production concepts like The DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), which is the powerful digital computer software used to create, record, edit, mix and master some of today’s biggest hit songs.
In addition to learning how to create, modify sounds, and even program drum beats and patterns, students will be introduced to songwriting and musical arranging concepts. They will be introduced to the music business question of “how does my music make money”?
The entire process of making digital music is explored in-depth with creativity as the center of our focus. Whether new to music production or a self-taught expert, students will be exposed to advanced software and digital audio equipment which will prepare them for the competitive, fast-paced, and ever-changing music industry.

Every session will provide a mix of instruction and work time to help your middle school student learn and apply new skills. Please note that the academy is for students who will be in grades 5th. thru 8th. grade in September 2022. The academy will run simultaneously at both our Essex County Payne Tech campus and at our Essex County West Caldwell Tech campus. A culminating robotics competition will be held at Payne Tech on July 22. Families will be invited to attend the competition.
