Through the Technology Equipment Checkout service, students, faculty, and staff can reserve equipment for free to assist in completing coursework and other academic and research projects.
Overview
Check out equipment is intended for educational use only to aid in projects, presentations, and the delivery of academic material.
Reservations
The equipment is meant for occasional use only. Reservations are for up to two weeks, with one additional two-period extension, upon request.
COVID-19 Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, exceptions can be made for longer checkout periods (not to exceed one academic semester). To be eligible for a long-term checkout, a formal accommodation or academic adjustment may be required.

Hotspots for students are only available with accompanying Accommodation or Academic Adjustment – more information here
Hotspots for staff and faculty must have their department approval for billing purposes.

Reservations are limited to max reservation time of 2 weeks (14 days)
Reservations can be extended ONCE by 2 weeks (for a max of up to one month)

User can reserve multiple pieces of equipment at a time but are limited to one type of equipment at a time (i.e. one laptop and one projector)
Instructor or supervisor approval is needed for exceptions to these limits
Users must present a valid ESU Hornet card at the time of equipment checkout
Reserved equipment will only be checked out to the user whose name appears on the reservation unless arrangements are made with the IT Help Desk in advance
Users verify they agree to the terms and conditions, of the reservation when creating the reservation
Equipment and accessories must be returned in the same cosmetic and functional state that it was in when checked out
Equipment must be returned at the same location it was checked out unless stated otherwise
Equipment that is returned after the scheduled return time is considered late. Late equipment is subject to possible loss of equipment checkout privileges.
The customer is responsible for equipment that is returned damaged, as well as for missing parts or accessories that were not noted at the time of checkout. The costs associated with repair or replacement will be billed to the student campus account or charged back to your department (employees).
The IT Help Desk reserves the right to ban users from checking out equipment. Reasons for a ban may include but are not limited to excessive late returns, returning equipment in a condition that is unsuitable for immediate use (damage, missing accessories, odors, etc.), or failure to return equipment.
