Curriculum Requirements
Up to twelve (12) hours of graduate credit may be shared between the graduate and the undergraduate degree. These shared hours must be at the 700 level and students must pass these hours with a B or better. The available SLIM classes are: 701—Foundations of Library and Information Science, 702—Information-seeking Behavior and Reference Services, 704—Organization of Information, and 705—Management of Information Organizations.
Transfer credits
Our Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies offers a high flexibility towards degree requirements regarding transfer credits from other institutions. Your Interdisciplinary Studies academic advisor will work with you and any accrued credits you have, to create a degree plan that best fits you.
Academic Advising
Students in this program will be advised by an Interdisciplinary Studies academic advisor, and an MLS academic advisor will coordinate students’ progress while they are in their undergraduate program. After they have completed their undergraduate degree, the MLS advisor will be their sole advisor.
About the SLIM Program
Emporia State University’s School of Library and Information Management (SLIM) has a long history of preparing students for work in library and information science fields since 1902. SLIM is the oldest library school west of the Mississippi, and the MLS is accredited by the American Library Association.
A graduate degree in Library and Information Management complements previous education, offers prospects for increased earnings and provides flexible skills for the future.
