Hi! I graduated from Emporia State University in May 2022 and I am currently taking graduate classes for a master's degree to be a reading specialist. I taught 4th grade at Gray Hawk Elementary during the 22-23 year. I moved to Colorado to live with my boyfriend and find new experiences in this school district. I hope to teach grades 3, 4th, or 5th this upcoming school year, then become a reading specialist later on. When I am a reading specialist, I will be able to still be in a classroom setting but I will work specifically with small group instruction and addressing reading skills/needs. I like to read, spend time with family, and run in my spare time. I absolutely love to be in nature whether it be hiking among mountains or setting up my hammock in a local park. Below are some pictures that represent aspects of my little life :)
Every Kid Needs a Champion | Rita Pierson
Rita Pierson, a teacher for 40 years, once heard a colleague say, "They don't pay me to like the kids." Her response: "Kids don't learn from people they don't like.'" A rousing call to educators to believe in their students and actually connect with them on a real, human, personal level.
