Residential Life Duty Phone numbers are available and posted throughout the residence halls. Call for non-emergent issues such as lock-outs, maintenance issues, questions, etc.
For immediate emergencies (medical, safety, fire, etc.) call ESU Policy and Safety or 911.
On days the university is closed, mail will not be available for sorting or pick up. We encourage residents to make alternative plans for mail and packages during this time.
Reception centers in each building will not be open during winter break. On days the university is open, the Residential Life Main Office will be open.
For approved winter break residents only
Do not complete the closing checklist, including turning in your room key. Your Hornet ID Card will remain on and available during the break period, as well, to ensure you have access to your residence hall and room.
We will place a "room occupied" sign outside of your door. Keep this sign up.
If you leave for an extended period over the break, complete the following steps:
Electrical devices are turned off
Your window(s) is closed
Your room door is locked
Your room heat is on low
Dispose of any trash
In January 2026, you will not need to sign up for a move-in arrival time or check in with our staff at the reception centers. You will automatically be checked in based on your status as a winter break resident.
Winter Break Residents may check their mail at the Residential Life Office during days when the university is open.
