The SMILE Lab stands for Studying Motivation in Learning Environments. Much of our work is grounded in self-determination theory, but we also rely on other motivational theories such as expectancy-value theory and achievement goal theory.

Currently, our lab members include myself and Dr. Cong Wang, a colleague of mine from Purdue University.
