The U.S. Political System

U.S. Political System Presentation

Presentation

To the Left is the presentation used to introduce the U.S. Federal Government System to the fourth years. In this presentation we outlined the three branches of government and their responsibilities, offices, and functions

Following this presentation we showed the Schoolhouse Rock Video I'm Just a Bill, which built on this introduction to the federal government system in detailing how laws are created. Students also completed a listening guide as they followed along with the concepts explained in the video.

Video

This is the video we watched to help explain how laws are made in the U.S. Federal Government System. Between the catchy tune and helpful graphics, students were able to clearly see how an idea becomes a bill, then, for some, a law!

Activity

For this activity, the fourth years learned about the United States' Federal Government System. Specifically, Students learned about the three branches of government, the separation of powers, and the responsibilities and offices associated with each branch.

Additionally, students also learned about how laws are made, which included the process through which this happens and the checks and balances applied by each branch.

Students applied their understanding of the U.S. Federal Government System through creating fortune tellers that instead of fortunes, had questions regarding this governmental system.
