We know you'll have questions! Here are some common ones, with helpful links for your paperwork:
1. What is the role of a Language Assistant at CEIP Elio Antonio de Nebrija?
You'll primarily support our English teachers in Early Years (Infantil) and Primary (Primaria) classrooms. Your main goal is to create an engaging, immersive English environment, encouraging conversation, helping with pronunciation, and sharing your culture through fun activities. You'll be a key part of our bilingual team!
2. What kind of support will I receive from the school?
You'll have a dedicated mentor teacher who will guide you throughout your stay, helping you with classroom activities and any questions you might have. Our Bilingual Coordinator will also be your point of contact for programme-related queries and general support. We believe in strong teamwork!
3. What do I need to know about visa and residency paperwork?
This is crucial! The specific requirements depend on your nationality and the programme you're joining.
Non-EU Citizens: You will typically need a student visa (visado de estudios) to enter and reside in Spain for the duration of your programme. You'll also need to apply for a TIE (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero) once you arrive in Spain.
For general information on Spanish visas, check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation website: https://www.exteriores.gob.es/Portal/en/ServiciosAlCiudadano/Paginas/ServiciosConsulares.aspx
For information on the TIE, you can often find details on the Spanish Police (Policía Nacional) website under "Trámites de Extranjería": https://www.policia.es/documentacion/extranjeria/extranjeria.html (You'll need to navigate to the specific TIE application info).
EU Citizens: You generally don't need a visa. However, if you plan to stay longer than three months, you should register as a resident (obtener el Certificado de Registro de Ciudadano de la Unión).
More info here: https://www.inclusion.gob.es/web/migraciones/residir-en-espana (Look for "Ciudadanos de la Unión Europea").
Important: Please always refer to the official government websites and your programme's specific guidelines for the most accurate and up-to-date information. We'll assist you with local appointments if needed once you're here.
4. What's Villamartín like for living?
Villamartín is a charming and authentic Andalusian town! It's safe, friendly, and large enough to have all essential services (supermarkets, health centre, pharmacies, banks), yet small enough to feel like a close-knit community. You'll find lovely local bars and restaurants, and plenty of opportunities to experience Spanish culture firsthand.
5. How do I find accommodation?
While the school doesn't provide accommodation, we can offer advice and potentially connect you with resources for finding a room or flat to rent in Villamartín. Local options are usually affordable.
6. What about transport in and around Villamartín?
Villamartín itself is very walkable. For exploring the wider area, there are bus connections to larger cities like Jerez de la Frontera (where the nearest airport is), Seville, and Cádiz. This makes weekend trips and exploring the beautiful Sierra de Cádiz very easy.
7. Can I connect with other Language Assistants?
Absolutely! We'll do our best to connect you with other Language Assistants working in Villamartín or nearby schools. Many assistants form strong friendships and explore Andalusia together.
