In Pre-K we have three rules that are used across the district and they are:
Being safe encompasses all things that are safe such as keeping our hands and feet to ourselves, using walking feet inside, using materials and toys correctly, etc.
Being kind means that we use kind words, keep our hands and feet to ourselves, and are ready to help both teachers and friends
Being ready means that we are ready to learn, have fun, and play by having listening ears, quiet voices, sitting bodies on the carpet, and eyes on the teacher. We also practice having a good attitude and positive thinking to be ready learn.
When students are caught making green (or good) choices, we give both praise and tangible rewards such as stickers, smellies, or a prize from the prize box.
When students choose to make red choices, consequences follow. They are given two warnings, then something such as a toy or play time might get taken away, next they may have a time out, and finally, teachers may have to contact home to discuss student behavior during the day.
We understand that Pre-K kiddos are three-five years old, and for many of them, this is their first time in a school setting. Grace is given because of that! However, we do have high expectations and will hold students accountable for both their green and red choices during the year. Thank you for partnering with us as we set them up for success in kindergarten.
Since students eat lunch at 10:30, we have an afternoon snack time after students get up from rest time.
On 1/2 days, we will still eat a snack before dismissal.
Students can bring a blanket for rest time. All rest time materials will be sent home on Fridays to be washed or used at home.
Please send a set of extra clothes in case your child gets a little messy or has an accident. We will send dirty clothes home in a plastic bag and communicate with you what may have happened.
Please send a reusable water bottle filled with water ONLY. Please no juice or milk as it is difficult to clean up when spilled.
Students can enter the building at 7:20. If they arrive between 7:20 and 7:30, they will head to the cafeteria. After 7:30, they are welcome to come to Ms. Fox's room or head to the cafeteria for breakfast until 7:40.
If you would like for your child to eat breakfast, please be here before 7:30 so that your student has enough time to eat.
Pre-K students will dismiss at 3:00. If your student is a walker or car rider, they will dismiss outside of the K/PK hallway.
On 1/2 days, we will dismiss at 12:00 in the same spot.
If students are not picked up by 3:15, they may be moved to the front foyer.
If someone else is picking your student up or they are going home a different way than normal, please either send a note or an email before 2:00 the day of to let us know.
