Dear Families,
Your child is in our high school dance class at Ryan High School. Your child is enrolled in Course. The purpose of this email is to provide you with the instructional plan for the course, including key information about what your student will learn, how the course is structured, and how learning will be assessed throughout the semester.
We are excited to share about our wonderful Fine Arts programs. In our classes, students get to learn, create, and grow through dance education. We want every student to have the best learning experience possible.
This year, teachers will share a course overview with families. The overview explains what students will be learning and how we will support them in class. You can view the secondary course overviews online by clicking this link and selecting Secondary Curriculum Suite in the For Families section, and Fine Arts and then Dance, or viewing the attached course overview. You can also view the required Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) at tea.texas.gov. You can also review secondary instructional materials by course online.
In our dance courses, students will demonstrate their learning through a variety of assessments, including daily assignments, quizzes, skill tests, performances, and major learning demonstration projects. You can expect daily grades including skill assessment, major unit skill assessments at least every two weeks, and quizzes/tests/assessments based on concepts and vocabulary for students demonstrating their understanding of the TEKS.
More specific information will be shared with students in class. If you have any questions about your student’s dance class, please reach out—we are happy to help. For questions about the instructional materials, please reach out to the Fine Arts Office at finearts@dentonisd.org. We look forward to working with your child and helping them shine in Fine Arts this year!
Sincerely,
Keli Jones
